Got rejected, have a 780ish credit score. Maybe too many credit card sign ups recently
From what I could find online regarding BofA these are their restrictions for credit cards:

- You can only get approved for 2 new cards in a 30-day period
- You can only get approved for 3 new cards in a 12-month period
- You can only get approved for 4 new cards in a 24-month period

Apparently it only looks at BofA cards. Where as the Chase 5/24 rule looks at any credit card issued to you, regardless of which company issued it to you.

Edit: Adding the 7/12 and 3/12 rules for BofA higher up to this comment.

"7/12 and 3/12 rule"

"According to this rule, customers with a BofA deposit account will not be approved for new cards if they've opened seven cards (across all issuers) in the last 12 months, while customers without a BoA deposit account will be rejected if they've opened three or more cards in the last 12 months."

Also rejected - 820 credit score and i have no BoA credit cards (never have). They did hit me with a hard credit check though. :|

can you ease explain how 5.25%

You need have $100K or more in total stock/401k/retirement etc. with Merrill/BOFA to get to their platinum tier. Once you reach that status, you get extra .x 1.75 bonus multiplier that works with few cards - including this one.

I finally got this card. 850 FICO. I am a Platinum Honors Reward (Merrill Lynch).
I am hoping to take advantage of the category (Home furnishing/furniture).

However, I am gonna share a caveat. The (1st) card was stolen in the mail and used 200 miles away. I was waiting for it in the mail and notice $800 in charges and immediately filed a fraud claim.
The froze the account and sent me out another card w/ new number. The charges were reversed but still in the investigation stages. I a, just curious how the card was stolen in the mail. in my 30 years, I've never had a fraud/stolen card. Either someone did an inside job at the Post Office or distro. And how did they hell did they activate it without me getting a notification. Regardless, BofA rectified it.

In regards to the "Online shopping" category, does that include online ads purchases?

And is it unlimited? also does BoA reject people who use it as a business card?

Thanks. Chase cards usually show this in the app.
Wondering if the start date is marked from the time you order the card or when you activate it.

For me there are some B&M store that picks up as online purchase - so i think you need to charge it and then find out for sure.

I also get Walmart as grocery - i thought it is not supposed to be a grocery.

Applied for both BoA Customized Cash Rewards (this card) and BoA Unlimited Cash Reward (grey color card) 20 hours apart on the same day. Got approved for both.

I'm a Platinum Honors Tier BoA customer with 2 existing BoA Cash Rewards Card, 2 checking accounts and a Merrill Edge Investment Account.

Credit score before applying 815 and did not apply for any BoA cards in the past 2 years but got 2 Chase cards recently in the past 6 months.

Wife and I have one each of these, joint Merrill Edge account made both cards +75%. Did it so we get 5.25% at online and restaurants (two largest expenses other than utilities- 5% back with us bank).

Not unlimited but it does cover just about anything online (aside from "doctors, schools, government, insurance, utilities, nonretail services(therapy, shipping, dry cleaning, etc)").
*"Advertising services" is one of the exclusions under "non-retail services"

"Earn 3% and 2% cash back on up to $2,500 in combined choice category/grocery store/wholesale club purchases each quarter, then earn 1%."
