I know this is only a mediocre deal, since last month we saw 43" 4K smart TVs for only $10 more, but if you need this specific size (43" is too large for where I need to install this), has there been anything better lately? 4K at this size is silly unless you're using it as a PC monitor, but without the smart functions I'll need to add the cost of a Roku SE.

If that's the biggest your space can handle, it's a great tv at a price.... a few years back would of been an unthinkable price..... Here's one with Smart built in https://www.amazon.com/All-New-In...=tv&sr=1-2

you may want to consider the Vizio smart tv as well

Thanks, I prefer the Roku platform, and I bought a couple of the Roku SEs last month when Walmart had them on sale, so I'm going to go with that. I actually bought this yesterday; even got free same day delivery, although I haven't set it up yet.

It's an OK deal. The best deals were around Black Friday where I picked up a 43" 4K smart TCL for that price and some other, larger sets for equally great prices. But I specifically needed a 40" TV, and didn't care if it was 4K or 1080p, so this fit the bill. Picture quality is decent. I have no complaints with it.

So in other words wait till black Friday and hope they're pitchin something you can use for $30 less..... Seriously, if you need this size and have a $150, buy it. With patience and research you can always do better.... even then BF deals.

Right, I wasn't trying to imply that the previous poster should wait until BF. I mean, it's only 10 bucks difference. If you need a set now, get it. If you don't really need it but you're looking for a great deal, you can wait for a better TV.

Right, and nobody's pitchin great deals on small sets anymore. $120 is the lowest you'll ever find on this... and your chances of beating the stampede makes it nearly impossible to land one. Yep, buy or hope you stumble on a clearance/display item locally...... though I would go with one that has the smart features built in opposed to messin with external devices..... Just easier.
