Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

I cannot verify, but someone said they are taxing on the sale amount after the discount. Which makes this deal that much better IF true.
I bought the S20+ for $599.99. The tax was $37.50. The tax rate in my jurisdiction is 6.25%.

Since this is a discount and not a bill credit, I am not sure how they could justify charging you tax on the full amount.

Previously when I did a port-in deal with Fi, google has specific requirements regarding latest activation date for the port in number, meaning to be eligible, the number had to have been activated before a certain date,

Anything like it for this promo?

Edit: What I am asking is, are we certain that new numbers created today will qualify as eligible port?

yes, some people get it on 2nd bill and some on 3rd bill. doesnt rly matter for this deal since its 90 days instead of 60, but for the 4a 5g it basically meant the referral was worthless for me.

It depends on the sim, the link you posted also needs a plan, but there are some which come preloaded with an initial plan
Careful with some of those trial sims, some carriers won't let you port out those numbers.

thats what i was planning on doing but after ordering i saw a line item in the billing/promo details that had "transfer number to Fi". wasnt sure what that was about so cancelled it. may order with a port-in from another account. main issue is if i want to risk using device on my main Verizon line after activating on Fi. after ref discount its coming to about $475. not sure if we can buy it for $500 outright in coming weeks without the 3-month no trade/sell limitations.

I don't think so. Bunch of us did the 4a 5g couple months back with new numbers and I didn't see anyone that did not qualify.

I activated on 28th Nov and my billing started from 2nd Dec. The $20 credit applied to my second bill on 2nd Jan

it doesn't, but just FYI it might not apply until your 3rd month. they still billed me a full 2nd month today.
I did the Note20 which required 90 days, and I got the $20 credit applied to my 2nd bill.

Anyone know the actual model of s20? I'm wondering if this is an unlocked sprint/tmobile model or if it is the same as the unlocked model that you would buy from Samsung. The unlocked version that isn't a carrier model isn't dependent on the carrier to approve updates. I don't really want some unlocked Google fi special model.

I am gonna lean towards taking this chance. The process is that the Fi SIM needs to be in the Fi phone and be activated first so Google's system can register the device with that SIM. It's basically to make sure Google's system can verify the pairing of the Fi SIM with the Fi phone. Once it's in the system (which should be immediately, but I'll wait a day or two to be sure), the Fi SIM can be removed and the phone can be used with any other SIM.

The most important thing is that the Fi SIM must not be placed into another device. If the Fi SIM is in another device, the Google Fi service will obviously re-connect and phone home to Google and re-register the device, which then it will notice that the device with your Fi SIM is no longer the same device you purchased from Google, and thus flagging you and breaking the whole deal.

This is what I gather, and it makes sense to me. I've placed my order for the S20.
Yes same thing happned to me, I activated the Fi sim on the 4a 5G then took it out a day later and was using the phone with tmobile. Then for some reason I thought I should put the Fi sim to another burner phone I was having. Big mistake it immediately broke the discount deal.

Whatever you do, dont use the Fi sim on any other phone until the terms are fulfilled. You are however free to use the phone on any carrier and let the Fi sim sit in your drawer too!

So I have a pixel 3 that I $ from google fi. It's paid off but I still have the google fi # active. I pause the service every month and just pay 7$ insurance on the P3. Can I add a line on the google fi account, trade in my pixel 3, take the sim out that's current active on. Tmobile prepaid, order the S20 and have that on the news line under flexible spend plan for 15 a month. Get the new phone activate the sim, take it out, put the tmobile p3 sim in, send p3 back, and cancel after 90 days, not using the Google fi sim but only to activate?
