Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

Wow. I read this for the existing customers.

"An existing Fi customer is somebody who has been active on Fi on or before January 5th, 2020."

January 5th, 2020? Sheesh. I am an existing customer with a current $230.26 google fi credit balance due to earlier November trade-in deal..... However I do not qualify for the $600 off promotion deal and I won't be able to use my google fi credit for this Samsung deal. If I can't use my google fi credits with my current google fi account, it is an easy pass for me now. Oh well...... Paying $26.53 per month with no data use on this deal is too much for me. Thank goodness that I got $40 refs with my earlier deal.
it might be a mistake and they meant Jan 5 2021 (day before they started this deal). but given reports of terrible Google Fi service, i wouldnt bet on getting much help from them.

People who don't want to fulfill the requirements of the 90 days google fi service and swapping the sims or messing with the e-sims are playing with fire with that $600 off promotion. Do not even risk messing up that $600 promotion..... Google Fi will happily charge your credit card $600 once you mess up the 5 step promotion process.

I am doing the Google Fi promotion with $200 off from November and I am not gonna mess that up.... 38 days left. Let all the days tick away before you want to swap out the sim card.

Depends on your credit card company. Some will allow charges from vendors you had a relationship with even if your number changes.

I see a lot of talk about the S20, but is this deal as good for the S20 Ultra?
When I break it down I get this..
S20 Ultra - $800
Taxes on phone(7%) - $56
Port# from Ebay- $10
Service for 90 Days - $75
Total est cost in the end - $941

When checking Ebay real quick to see the avg going rate of the phone , Im seeing S20 ultras New from $799+ and used from $648+...

From what I'm seeing this deal might not be as sweet for the S20 Ultra. Am I missing anything?

So my line is on a sprint family plan. Could I activate this plan and port my number from Sprint to Fi for a few months, then take it back to sprint? Sorry but I am not well versed in all of this phone stuff.

The cheapest legit new factory unlocked s20 ultra I see on ebay is ~$900 and you would pay sales tax on top of that. The others that are less money don't have part numbers that match a factory unlocked model. It is then questionable if you would have a warranty(or for how long).

But, to answer your question, no, $800 for the ultra isn't as good of a deal as $400 for the S20. I am not even sure the S20 ultra is worth buying to be honest. If you want a bigger phone I think the S20+ is a better value given the focus issues with the S20 Ultra camera.

Yes, I don't see why you couldn't.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize the s20 ultra camera was having issues. I was hoping to hold on to it for a couple months until the fold 3(with S pen hopefully) came out then use it as a trade-in for the upgrade.

Is it safe to put your own sim in the S20 after you take the FI sim out? I don't want to spend 400 but cannot use the phone for 3 months
Based on a previous google fi deal thread, the answer is yes. As mentioned, do NOT put the Fi sim in another phone after activating. That's the catch.

One note: I'm a new customer and have never done a deal like this and I'm taking the chance. It's really up to you to decide if you want to try this. One very logical explanation from another thread about why this works is this: what if I got in on this deal and actually kept the Fi sim in the phone, and decide to take a 2 week trip hiking off the grid or visit a friend in an area where fi has no coverage? It would be absurd for Google to break my promo discount because their service didn't have coverage and couldn't track me for 2 weeks. Well, taking the Fi sim out simply makes that 2 weeks into 90 days. What if I'm out hiking in the middle of no where for 90 days?

Your example makes sense. It would be similar to the case that we just turn the phone off and not using it; I do not think Google can break the promotion because of that. However, it might not be the same when using the phone with another SIM card. For example, it should be rather easy for Google Fi app to check and report that. I am also a new customer, and I have also been wondering a lot about thatSmilie.

I'm taking my chances. The Fi sim is what is being tracked. Also in the other thread, I read another poster said he has done identical deals multiple times where he bought the phone on fi and activated it and then proceeded to use the phone with another sim while the Fi sim was out.

For my own personal sake and monetary perspective, I believe the Fi sim is what google is using to track you, not the phone; thus do not put the Fi sim in another phone.

Yes, S21's specs are better than S20's.
