Be adventurous. I say go with the first option!!

After reading several Fi threads, I felt confident enough to do remove the Fi SIM and use my own main SIM. Let's say you go with option #2 and stuck it in the drawer for 90 days. What if you forgot about it after 3 weeks, and the battery died, and you didn't realize until a month later? The Fi service is still active and you're still paying; however, Google doesn't know where your Fi SIM is for a whole month, other than the fact that their system still has it registered to your Fi phone, because that's the last known device it was paired with - which, to me, is the same as removing the Fi SIM.
What did you do about the Google Fi app? Would the app not know if you put a different sim in?

I see that the box has 2 IMEI's listed on it ... Thought that means the phone is capable of supporting an E-Sim .. are you saying the E Sim on the S20 only works outside the US .. ?
Very intereesting my original S20 that I bought from samsung directly in Feb 2020 did not have two imei in the box. I have not seen any Samsung US device to support dual sim capabilities either via physical or esim. Most of the international models (exynos) are dual sim with a physical sim card slot. In fact in the S20 FE, the microSD slot seemed like a hybrid slot with the 2nd slot labelled as SIM2/MicroSD but I have not seen anyone able to enable the dual sim capability.
Due to lack of esim I had always had an ipone SE 2020 or Pixel 4a just as backup device.
Interesting may be samsung added the e-sim and they just didnt enable it or we will have to wait for the S21 to use that knowing how samung works!

I already bought screen protector from Amazon. So it seems that the phone comes with a screen protector already? Man, what a waste. I have never seen this before, i.e., a screen protector comes with the phone. What a surprise.
It has been always the case sine the day they have the on screen fingerprint scanner. You need a special type of screen protector that does not interfere with the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner so Samsung has been preinstalling them in the phones since S10 days. For cheaper phones like the A series and the S20 FE they have an optical sensor and Samsung did not include any screen protector.
For ultrasonice if you put a tempered glass the fingerprint scanner wont work or barely work. For optiocal sensor installing a tempered glass doest affect the fingerprint.
So now you know why they have a screenprotector installed because it is a special one. If you peel it off, it will be hard to find another one which doesnt interfere with the fingerprint scanner. Sure you can find many screenprotectors on amazon but all of them make the S20 fingerprint scanner less sensitive and hard to unlock.
Recommendation keep the factory one as long as you can.

That's the main reson I bought this s20 for to use as a trade in device. But if the S21 does not have a microSD card I am going to skip and keep the S20. I already had a S20 that I bought in Feb by trading in the S10 but it was showing signs of age the battery life was poop sold it locally on craiglist for $600 and all in all even after paying for 3 momths Fi $100 profit and a brand new phone!!

It also has on 8gb ram, as compared to the 12gb is s20, which is making me think if the s21 is even an upgrade?

I need to figure out if the additional credit Samsung is giving ($100 + $50) is valid when pre-ordering from carrier

S21 confirmed no SD slot, lower screen resolution... Really no major upgrades if you ask me. If the US variant still doesn't have dual sim, S20 is an easy winner...

Thanks for the pics.
I think the actual preinstalled screen protector is underneath the top plastic protector with tab to pull it off.

What did you do about the Google Fi app? Would the app not know if you put a different sim in?
I downloaded the Fi app, activated the SIM and ported my number into Fi, then downloaded and installed all the updates (about 4-5 for me). I was fully activated and number successfully ported within 20 minutes which is how long it took to download and install all the updates. By this time, the phone was low on battery so I charged it, all the while the Fi SIM was still in the phone. I let it charge for a few hours, because I figured to let the SIM sit in it in case Google's system was slow and so it can see that everything is set up.

After about 6-7 hours, I had all updates, and phone fully charged, and I went and did a factory reset, which of course includes deleting the Fi app with the reset. While it was booting, I removed the Fi SIM and placed it into the S20 box, and inserted my main carrier SIM. I haven't looked back since, nor have I gotten any notifications from the credit card that I used about any $600 charge (the discount amount). My first bill is scheduled to appear tomorrow 1/15 so I'll know then if I broke the deal, which could be too soon to tell but I also don't know how quickly Google enforces their promo charge if I had already broke it.
