Have a "friend" with above qualifications who doesn't need the phone buy and ship for/to you. They have to activate phone and use the Google Fi # for at least 90 days to get the discount.
Do I need to remove the screen protector that came with it?
The esim isn't even visible in the software from what I can see.

I am not sure if it is possible to enable it by flashing a firmware for a different region or what the implications of that might be. It is sort of annoying that Samsung decided to lock this region out from using the esim.

I am not good at flashing firmware and the like so not an option for me ..
Maybe one other option is to take a to a physical store to one of the carries who does offer esim and have them try ..

I am not sure what the implications on the promotion would be though.
I am really struggling with what I should do here.
- I can risk doing what smallpenny is doing, pull the sim and insert my real sim
- I could put the phone in a box for 90 days and not enjoy it until April
- I could return it
I probably would have ported my real number in and just used the phone on Fi for 90 days if that was an option for me but Fi service is terrible at my house.*sigh*
I don't like any of my choices right now. Also, before someone asks, yes, I knew all this going in.
After reading several Fi threads, I felt confident enough to do remove the Fi SIM and use my own main SIM. Let's say you go with option #2 and stuck it in the drawer for 90 days. What if you forgot about it after 3 weeks, and the battery died, and you didn't realize until a month later? The Fi service is still active and you're still paying; however, Google doesn't know where your Fi SIM is for a whole month, other than the fact that their system still has it registered to your Fi phone, because that's the last known device it was paired with - which, to me, is the same as removing the Fi SIM. If you inserted the Fi SIM into another phone, then all of a sudden Google's system will see that your Fi SIM no longer matches with the phone they expect it to be paired with, thus breaking the promo.
Again, this is all just my own logic and reasoning.
