got it, here is what I plan to do

trade in S20
leave google fi SIM card in a drawer (I guess)
use my S21 on my existing Tmobile SIM.
cancel google fi after 90 days
Make sure when you reset the phone that the Google fi app is not still installed.

I'm keeping the S20 Ultra untill a new note is released.

The S21 is not an update to me slight improvements & 3 more years of updates on a phone I won't keep that long isn't worth it

Re-ordered with Google Voice number. Nice tip.

thanks for the tip "Make sure when you reset the phone that the Google fi app is not still installed."

so, I should uninstall Google Fi first, then reset it? Will it automatically reinstall Google Fi after reset?

or precisely, do it like "take out SIM card first, reset it, trade it in"....

Did anyone order the S20 from Google Fi recently?
I placed an order on Jan. 14th, but looks like it still hadn't been shipped out yet. I contacted the Google Fi customer representative thru chat but I was told that I would get the phone on time which was Jan. 27th and there was nothing else they could do for me. That doesn't make sense at all. Google usually ships items out very fast.

Anyone has the same problem? Also please PM me if you need the $20 code.

The people that have sim swapped, Haven't replied to this thread. I'm guessing it didn't go well for them
It is probably that it hasn't been long enough for people to respond positively yet. There are people who report both success in failure in the older threads.

The google Fi app isn't preinstalled, you have to install it. However, you need to install the Fi app to activate.

I did not uninstall it, I reset the phone while it was installed and pulled the sim while the reset was happening. I can't say definitively if that was the right thing to do or not.

Can anyone confirm if Chat features of Google Messages is working on their s20 with a non-fi sim.

I put my tmobile sim from my Oneplus 7 pro in the s20 and can't seem to get Chat features in Google Messages to work. It's stuck on "Setting Up" for the last two days. I keep getting texts via RCS on my Oneplus 7 Pro when connected to Wi-Fi.

Mines hasn't shipped either showing Jan 29-Feb 2. When I got order confirmation it says "Light Blue" when I ordered "Black" FI support says my order shows "Black" & not Blue on there side. Who knows FI is a joke, Nobody should use them as a main carrier.

I'm pretty sure they are out of phones. If you checkout samsung directly they are all sold out. Google Fi must be stalling till they can figure a way to get a new shipment.

If that's the case, they screwed up on processing the orders.

I ordered on 1/10 and received my phone!

After MKBHD's review of the S21 Ultra I'm starting to think of trading my new s20 in for it for it.

Problem is I still have to hold onto this thing for 3 months and not sure if Samsung is going to allow me to wait that long to send them the trade in. What yall think?

I've thought of that as well. From what I can tell, you just need to keep service active with Fi, not necessarily need to have the phone active. Like put the SIM in a drawer and forget about it, just don't put it in another phone.

Do keep in mind that the S21 series ditches MST for Samsung Pay and ditches MicroSD.
