Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

Yes/No, I'm sure they only are checking specific IMEI Numbers, It's similar to the way IMEI Blacklist works all compaines have access to the list but sometimes you can use a blacklisted phone for months before it caught by the carrier. FI may be scanning IMEI threw the networks they work with to check for violators.

This only started to be an issue with the new TOS. I'm sure leaving the FI app installed they can see the sim is swapped, Removing the app I believe they have starting to ping the phones & if the phone doesn't ping back so many times they just void the promo.

it's all risk right now.
What if the Fi sim is put back into the promo phone from time to time?

no one really knows, we are all speculating.

safest is to keep it on the s20. I'm keeping it in.

I'm at home most of the time.

I have a work phone that I can use when I go out.

No. There is no consensus.

Some believe it will work, others think it will void the promo.

Can you link to some of the reports of people having it not work? I did swap my SIM but I am still in the return window. I may just return it if there is a significant chance it will void the promo.

I was thinking of attempting this. We just have to be careful and make sure to swap the SIM with the phone off.

Still can't be certain it will actually work.

I actually tried to put the Fi SIM in with the phone on, and then got a prompt saying the Fi app needs to be installed. Then I backed down and took it out again... LOL
On my Fi account the counting is still going so hopefully I didn't mess it up...

This shipping seems very delayed. I saw one person say it shipped who orderd on 1/10 and another say it didn't ship from 1/7. What is the consensus of time to wait for shipping with google?
edit: looks like they are sold out and waiting on shipments.

Back again to make an uneventful update. I activated the fi sim and fi phone on the same day I got the phone. Hours later after a full charge I did a factory reset and while the phone was booting I took out the fi sim and inserted my main sim and I have not yet been charged for any sort of disruption of the promo discount.

As of this comment, I have 81 days left. I am on a mint mobile sim.

My fi sim has been removed and stored into the S20 box since I removed it. To be safe, I will wait until the count down hits 0 and wait a few hours or the next day before cancelling fi service.

Thanks for the update. You guys may be good because you purchased before the new TOS was implemented.

I'm waiting to see what happens with us that ordered after the tos update.

When was the new TOS effective? And what's the difference?

Original TOS- Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and remain active on Google Fi for 90 consecutive days.

New TOS -Activate the Samsung S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and remain active on Google Fi for 90 consecutive days.

I don't see any different. Do you mean the words "20, S20+, S20 Utra" different from "the phone"?

I think that was the changes I'm not sure. Pretty much the same thing. Fi is not a company to be trusted. They have horrible customer service & are known for invaliding promos.
