Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

What color did you order?

I ordered the cloud blue on 1/10, it supposedly shipped on 1/11. After a few days of no movement, FedEx notified me it wouldn't be delivered until 1/25. The weird thing is that the package originally shipped from California (where I live), but after the update from FedEx, the package is now coming from New Jersey! So Google either put a hold on the first package and reshipped it out of NJ, or FedEx somehow rerouted it to NJ. Either way, this sucks because it's counting down the days to activate within 30 days. It shows I have 20 says left to activate and I still don't have the phone yet!

I did not. On original check out page it says it'd be delivered 28-29 with standard shipping but once it's checked out it shows 26-27. Now Fedex is scheduled to deliver it on 24th for me. They are shipping from CAROL STREAM, IL and FWIW I ordered grey.

What state do you live in if you don't mind me asking? My friend ordered on the 17"TH & his order still hasn't shipped.
Louisiana. They're shipping from Illinois so I don't think my location has anything to do with it. I ordered grey FWIW

Ordered on 14th. Shipped on 21st with OnTrac and received on 22nd, which is today. I'm living in Socal.

I do have an intesting question.

I ordered this phone under "add a person". It's a group plan with 2 lines, $35 per month. I would like to cancel the previous line, no phone purchase on this line, and keep the new line only, so that I can pay $20 per month. Looks like it won't affect the promotion on the new line. Anyone had done that?

should not be a problem. each line can live on its own. you can track the status of your rebates under Billing-> Fi Savings.

I was thinking of attempting this. We just have to be careful and make sure to swap the SIM with the phone off.

Still can't be certain it will actually work.
I talked to a customer service, what he reply

turning off the device for sometime it won't violate the promotion terms, as long as you pay for monthly payment and keep Fi account and services active.

Seems ok.

I would take that with a grain of salt. Google Fi support is know for lying or giving false information on chats.

They will not honor any promises that come from chat.

Look up reviews on Fi & pretty much all negative threw the board.

I'm sorry if any one already ask but I can't find the answer.

Can I port in my FreedomPop number to Fi?
I tried. Here is my experience:

I bought a FreedomPop SIM card from a local Target store for $1. I activated the SIM card with a free plan. I inserted the SIM card to my phone and made a phone call. The next day, I requested to port out the number via chat. The agent provided me with the account number and PIN within the chat. However, the porting process was stuck there forever. I contacted FreedomPop again via chat the following day, and I was told that the account was canceled due to "Fraud/Abuse". They opened a ticket for me and said someone from the "Upper management team" will review my issue. Three days later, I received an email saying "these phone numbers are no longer active and cannot be ported out". They still didn't tell me why it is considered "Fraud/Abuse".

I guess maybe I requested to port out the number too soon after activation (less than 24 hours). Perhaps waiting a little longer will not trigger their "Fraud/Abuse" detection. It's just my guess of course. Has anyone ever experience something similar when you try to port out a number very soon after activation?

In the meantime, Google is starting to charge me phone plan service fee, although it still shows "You're currently not meeting a condition for the $600 off Samsung S20 instant rebate" message. I am wondering if Google will charge me 4 months of phone plan service fee (if we don't count the referral bonus).

By the way, I just knew that FreedomPop is acquired by Red Pocket. They upgraded their website which looks almost the same as Red Pocket. They are now running on AT&T and will no longer trick you into subscribing a paid plan, so I guess it is still useful if you need to port a number out for some future deals. But I would not use it again to obtain a new number.

Exact same thing happened with me, but luckily not on the Fi deal but on the metro deal.

As soon as I asked for port out info they deleted my account and now no updates

I have been using the phone a few days. The biggest inconvenience for me is that when using fingerprint to unlock the screen, I don't know exactly where I should press on the screen exactly. It is also a bit slower to respond than my Pixel 3XL. Does anyone knows a trick or two to fix/alleviate this problem? Thanks.

Quote from spextar :
Yes, the FP sensor is much slower than optical on screen FP sensors like the one on A71.

I think if the built in plastic screen protector is removed, the performance of the FP sensor will improve.
Since the newest update released on Jan 20, the fingerprint scanner performance is massively improved. I didn't see anything mentioned in the update notes, but I know it's since that update.

It unlocks MUCH faster now. There is no difference in terms of unlocking time compared to A71 and my P3XL.

Thanks for the update. You guys may be good because you purchased before the new TOS was implemented.

I'm waiting to see what happens with us that ordered after the tos update.
Not sure if the updated terms are any different. The criteria is exactly the same. If you're a new customer, you must port in, have a full plan (I use the $20 plan), and keep paying for it for 90 days. Simple as that.

I bought a burner pre paid sim card off target for $10 primarily for porting in since I wasn't gonna port my main carrier number. Once I ported in, I waited a few hours then factory reset and removed fi sim. The fi sim has not seen the light of day since I stashed it into the S20 box that very first day I got the device and sim.

And yet, I have not seen any $600 charge.

Sometimes they invalidate right before the end of promo or next billing cycle. We will see 3 months is a long time & they know if they invalidate now they will lose those months of service.

Ultimately, I decided to return mine.

I think swapping the SIM probably would have worked out fine but I just decided I didn't want to deal with worrying about it for 90 days.

I think this is what OP is talking about:

Quote from JSantos239 :
Original TOS- Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and remain active on Google Fi for 90 consecutive days.

New TOS -Activate the Samsung S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and remain active on Google Fi for 90 consecutive days.
the New TOS specifically mentions the Samsung phone to be active on fi for 90 consecutive days.
