Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

Thank you all for the information. I pulled a trigger on S20. I was in dilemma between S20 and S21. Read lots of opinions about how S21 could be a marginally downgrade. I didn't had a phone to trade in and I didn't want to get in the contract (Xfinity) or bill credits (Google Fi, S21) for 2 years. I don't mind for 3 months of Google Fi service. Might move to a cheaper service later.

Ordered yesterday and the phone shipped out today. That was quick. Thanks, OP. I am excited as this should be the biggest performance upgrade over MotoG5. Big Grin

Hi... it seems we both are in same boat. Currently I am using a unlocked phone with cheap pre-paid sim. Need to change phone and ordered S20 (didn't had a phone to trade in and I didn't want to get in the contract). So I assume I can port my number to google fi with new phone and use it for 3 months and port back to my existing pre-paid network right?

Your inputs are highly appreciated.

Yes, that is the plan for me. I am staying with Google Fi for 3 months and then going to evaluate less expensive pre-paid service. Inclined towards Xfinity mobile or Mint.

Putting your Fi sim in another phone is fine, don't let the tinfoil brigade scare you. As long as the Fi service is active, that's all they care about.

It's hilarious how paranoid some people are, frantically hiding their Fi sim in their sock drawer or under a rock in the backyard - as if someone at Google is sitting there monitoring their every move. Get a grip.
Please let us all know how this goes for you. BTW weren't you the one that kept saying this is no deal and you can get a S20 for around 550 new tax included with US warranty. We are still waiting for the link.

Wondering paying almost $500 for S20 is worth it vs getting S21 Ultra with t-mobile trading your device at the same.. Let me know your thoughts.

I understand we have to trade in the device but for s9 they are offering $800 with 24mths lock in..

IMO, the S21 Ultra is the only one worth getting in the S21 line over the S20 line.

For the same money, it is a big upgrade. A few caveats:
* It is a big upgrade both literally and figuratively. It is an 8oz device. Same as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Make sure you don't mind the size.
* You are OK with being locked into t-mobile.
* You can live without the microsd slot.

Other than that, it is a better phone
* Faster CPU
* Better camera
* GG victus
* 1440p@120Hz w/ adaptive refresh
* An additional year of software support

They want $14.99 total in my area. For that I rather purchase a sim & get port out in minutes/ a day.

tello is only $5 if you have an existing sprint sim & compatible phone. I did, so that's the route I took.

Unless you plan to keep the line, why can't you use a number from an area that is $5?

I just don't like out of state numbers. Plus the phone gets here on Thursday & I don't want to risk having to wait 3-7 days for port out.
