Had the ender 3 for a year or so now and got it for around the same price. Have not modded anything and love it to bits. My wife uses it for hers Arts and crafts and I use it to print projects and stuff around house like mounts for stuff. Love it and printing stuff now. Had not real issue just when I change filament types and have to adjust temps and then at same time rebalance the bed. It is very good for a someone just getting into 3-D printing and it was not too hard to put it together.
Still kicking myself for missing when woot had the Ender 3 V2 last month for $219 (plus tax). Creality has it on their shop using the link above for $249.99 (after code) plus $10 shipping (no tax). Having a hard time deciding if I should just go with a lower end Ender 3 and upgrading as I go or just starting with the 3 V2. It would be a lot easier if the price delta was smaller.
Get the v2. It's a damn near perfect machine from the start. Plenty of upgrades if you want them, but it really doesn't need any to get you started.
CR-10 v2 was my first PLA printer and pretty easy to get set up and running. Make sure it's assembled tight when you receive it, mine had several screws that seemed to be hand tightened or not screwed in.
CR-10 sold out, but got the Ender 3 as it came back up in stock. Will be my first 3D printer. Hoping to make stuff with my 9-year-old who is suddenly into cosplaying 😀

You DEFINITELY want the V2. I didn't get the SD deal but I got the same deal a couple weeks before on blind luck...the V2 is well worth the upgrade for the hot end, bed, and quiet motherboard but it still has a couple other upgrades that make it even better. There are some good comparisons that will back my opinion up, both on youtube and print (like all3dp.com). Also, when you get the machine, Creality will include a card that tells you to email them for an extended warranty and a free gift. They gave me the choice of a random roll of PLA or a glass bed, pretty easy choice IMO.
Those upgrades just make using the machine easier, less time leveling the bed (and easier to level the bed) and easier to load filament. My bed hardly ever goes out of level after changing those springs.

Thanks, sounds like the V2 is the way to go. Just wish it would come on sale again or at least come down on Amazon.

There are a couple upgrades on the V2 that I'd recommend. This kit is what I bought that had the two https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085S15YKS

by the way. SD alerts suck. I have multiple alerts for 3D printing and they never go off....
can the V-one ( I assume first generation) be updated to V2 specs ?
Thanks for the info
