Almost as if SD makes money when they're sold... 😁
that is because this is an advertisement posted by a SD editor. the vendor is an advertiser on this site and SD gets a kickback on each sale Beware of the SD bias on these types of posts.
I would point out these were Voted Best Buy home theater system for 2018-2019 by EISA.
Lol funny how sometimes you answer your own question 😜
With kids that you worry about damaging things and soundbars are not near the top of the quality chain(especially at $800) and even if you believed they were how often would you actually be able to take advantage of it?
Taking that in mind I would ask. do you really "need" a new $800 one?
I would suggest looking for slightly older model open box or maybe buying used.
Would save you a lot more money and the money you save, you start a budget for a future HT setup you can take advantage of when your kids are older and appreciate with you.
You add to it when you can, be surprised how quickly you can build a good size budget.
I mean i dont need any of it. I can wait a few years until the kids are bigger and more disciplined and then buy something nice.
Any input on these vs my 20yr old jbl northridge system? My center is done and need to replace soon but don't want to spend much if any more than this.
I bought these in walnut a few weeks ago $379. They sound great although the atmos speakers for the tower top are back ordered

I ordered a pair of the Atmos speakers from Crutchfield after getting the same deal on these a few weeks ago. Only took about 5 days for Crutchfield to ship the Atmos speakers. Was pleasantly surprised. Worth a shot if you really want them, I think they add to the movie watching experience.
I picked up the Klipsch 12" wireless sub that was a front page deal recently and am pretty happy with it. I also got a Denon AVR-S750H refurbished from a site called accessories4less for $400 shipped, and the Atmos speakers from Crutchfield. I'm more than happy with the investment! The tidal Hi-Fi deal the other day actually made a pretty nice difference compared to YouTube music I was using before in sound quality. I'm even happier now. I'd recommend these to anyone I know
Never heard of TIDAL, does it put out 2.1 and is it pretty much a hi def spotify clone?
Right now with Spotify it doesn't put out a sub signal when streaming (annoying).

Tidal is a music streaming service that has options for higher quality streaming than Spotify, youtube, etc. It's usually a bit more expensive but there was a slick deal yesterday for an annual subscription for $50. Definitely worth that, but TBD for me if it's worth the regular price.

I'm not aware of any streaming services that specifically stream 2.1. If you're using a receiver you just switch it to stereo mode and it will automatically pass the low frequencies in the music (depending on your set crossover) to your subwoofer.

Figured as much. i just wanted to take advantage of the virtual surround modes like "concert hall" "music video" etc but they dont put out lfe when i stream
Are these comparable to the klipsch reference theater pack?
These are Better than the Klipsch pack from Costco but they dont incuide a separate subwoofer. The Jamo 808 Sub cost $126 and the 810 cost $189 on Amazon. The 809s speakers have a good low end you dont "need" a sub but it is always better when you add one.

Not a bad idea. Would still be better than what I got now.

If you're patient that's probably the best option for the long run.
Right now pretty sure the kids monopolize most of the time and when you could take advantage of any of it is far and few between.
If you take that $800 you going to spend now and add to until then you will have a very nice budget.
In the meantime you can figure out which speakers you want to gamble on and what type of setup you want to go with.

Why NO ONE cares if it is, all they want to know is if it's a DEAL or not. Whether is sponsored or not has NOTHING to do with that.
It's called Slickdeals not Slick(non sponsored)deals for a reason!!!!
If you don't like SD's practices in 2021 then just leave and quit coming in here and complaining!!! Geeeez 🙄 🤡
