1st Edition was initially sold out on 1st day VW opened up availability. Now available again for anyone interested in a long range SUV which qualifies for all EV incentives.
QA Note: ID.4 1st Edition is now sold out for ordering, but the standard edition pre-order at OP's link is still available.

250 mile EPA rated range
Level 2 Autonomous Driving features (Travel Assist)

Incentives include: $7500 Federal Tax Credit
If leased, 7500 Federal tax credit applied directly to the "downpayment" of the lease.

Huge amounts of state incentives. I'm from CA so here are some examples:

CVAP (California residents- income limited) Grants are for new or used clean vehicles. You can get a grant for a hybrid vehicle, a plug-in hybrid, or an electric vehicle. Battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids can also include a home charging station with installation support, up to a $2,000 value.
See details: https://cleanvehiclegrants.org

CA residents can qualify for $1500 clean fuel initiative (no income limit) https://cleanfuelreward.com/

CA CVRP rebate : $2000 - 4500 (depending on income level- income cap 150k for single filers, 300k for joint filers)
Increased rebate for lower income. Check CVRP rebate for all details:
https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng

Also check with utilities for all other rebates.

1st Edition comes fully loaded the following options included:
Color choice, 20 inch Rims, Panoramic roof, IQ Drive (level 2 autonomous driving) and many other features that make this a well equipped long range EV for less than 30k in some instances (federal + state + utility rebates/incentives).

Advantages over Tesla Model Y
Heated Steering Wheel (unavailable on any Tesla)
Comes with Tow/Trailer Hitch ($1000 option on the Tesla Model Y)
Comes with more color choices ($1000-2000 on Model Y)
Comes with 20 inch Rims ($2000 option on Model Y)
Comes with Hands Free Kick to open lifgate (not available on Model Y)
Panoramic Fixed Roof 1 touch sunshade (not available on Model Y- the sunshade)

1st Edition saves $2000 over the regular ID4 order if optioned out fully with 20 inch rims and extra features such as panoramic roof, power lift-gate, adaptive headlights, 12 inch center display)

STANDARD VERSION: (use same link to reserve)

You can opt for standard version that starts at 40,000 (all rebates still apply on top of this)
Standard Version: Same range, IQ Drive included (level 2 autonomous driving), Lacks power lift gate, Lacks panoramic sunroof.

All ID4 orders also come with 3 years free Electrify America Fast charging. Excellent if you live near a Electrify America charging station or work by one.

Main competitor Model Y standard range.
Pros of Model Y: Supercharging network (not free, but more stations), rear heated seats
Cons of Model Y: Less range (244), additional colors cost $1000 ($2000 for red), No Federal Tax credit of 7500.

Both excellent options but I thought I would let people know about the ID4 seeing how popular the Model Y deal was.

Electric car future is looking bright!

Other states like New Jersey qualify for no sales tax plus $5000 back.
This is false info. The $5000 expired on 12/15/2020.

Tesla Shareholders no need apply. If you are hating on other car companies you're standing in the way of Tesla's mission of building a truly sustainable future.

And they have a glitzy 16 minute video about it.

Get a Peloton bike and you'll get fit in the process and get the same experience laugh out loud

I like the ID4 but anyone who knows anything about non-Tesla EVs in the USA (and even still to a degree Tesla EVs) is that you don't want to be an early adopter and you reap the savings and fixes after about a year.

A Bolt is not an ID4 but you can get them for $23k despite the $38k MSRP, Leaf is another one, and lets not forget the $12.5k eGolfs! Looking forward to the ID4 dropping in price once the TN facility comes on-line and I'm not talking just about the smaller pack variant that will be significantly cheaper once the $7,500 rebate is factored in.

The tax credit could be cut before then. Gotta keep an eye on it. Taycan, e-golf, Audi Etron all qualify for it. When ID4 hits, they can very easily hit that 200k vehicle limit to start the phase out of the credit.

Those other vehicles like Bolt, LEAF, etc. are not SUV. This is the size vehicle that the market has been waiting for, not just another hatch.

You still get 7500 federal tax credit no matter where you live. The base model at 40k minus 7500 gives you a long range SUV EV at 32,500 with free "fuel" for 3 years.

I understand. Sorry for my sarcasm. I got my plugin hybrid last year from a dealership in Maryland, live in DC Metro, and the car had flyers about incentives from MD and DC, in a addition to the Federal $5K. It just reminded me of that Smilie

OP may have a few corrections to make: CVRP is not an income restrained requirement, that falls on to CVAP, which IS income-based. You apply for CVAP BEFORE you go shopping, with the credit in hand, and have to 'spend' it an an approved CVAP dealer (most are not, call and ask first). Further, CVRP eligibility list presently does NOT have this car on the list....VW needs to apply to CARB to be considered for the CVRP listing. I would wait until this is all sorted out, then spring for a decent deal.
