I've had a Graco X7 for many years and it's saved me a ton of money. Very easy to learn how to use. There are tons of YouTube videos. I've painted my rental house, my house, my deck, my church's fellowship hall and other church buildings and about to paint my shed. I've never had a problem. Just be sure to clean it throughly and that can be a bit messy and laborious but don't skimp on cleaning. I've never put oil paint or stain through it so water cleans it easily. I hook it up to the hose and clean it on both the prime and spray settings, and clean the gun by running water through it under pressure until it comes out crystal clear. After cleaning add Pump Armor to keep the water from rusting the insides and it should last you a long time.

Can anyone compare this to the X5? Amazon has had that for ~$271 for a while now and Home Depot sells it with the extension for $280 somewhat frequently. Wondering if it's worth it for a regular home-owner with occasional projects like small cabinets, wainscoting, and similar.

I'd just get this. I've used with 5 gal buckets no problem. Spray doors trim base etc. all works well

Is this overkill for painting 3 kitchen cabinets? Probably wouldn't use much after..Unless it holds resale

Depends on paint cost. You can get cans with precatalyzer inside for fairly cheap from a supplier. Enamel based for cabinets will probably be best for high traffic areas. I've done that before when I didn't have sprayer.

Not speaking from any personal experience with these products, but purely from their descriptions, the two standout differences are that the X5 is rated for use with 75' paint hoses vs 50', and the rated annual use volume is a lot higher at 125 gallons vs 50 on this model. So seems like it's built for extensive use.

it sure IS a weird market - my house is worth 100k more than it should be - but i can't sell it because the houses i would buy are even more overvalued
