Amazon deal of the day: Braun 9 series (9330). This version comes without the cleaning station, but does include a charging station.

First time posting a deal here, so I'm prepared for suggestions/criticism. I've been waiting for a 9 series deal and it looks like this price matches an all time low, so figured I'd share.

This and the Panasonic Arc5 are the best 2 on planet earth at this time. Heaps of reviews and comparisons. I went with the Arc5 a couple of months ago to moonlight between double edge razor shaving, my new obsession. Surprisingly close shaves these give.

I think this is a good deal if you need a new shaver right away. The price has hover around $180 to $200 for the past 2 years.

Panasonic shavers (Arc5 and Arc4) are typically $50-70 cheaper and shaves as close as Braun. Panasonic also had the wet/dry shaving introduced at least 5 years before Braun (keyboard warriors please calm down - I'm referring to the top of the line shavers from both perspective companies). Wet shaving experience is much better on the Panasonic. Gel shaving is comparable - but easier to clean on the Arc5.

With that said - I still prefer the Braun because it cuts less harshly compared to Arc5, great for folks with sensitive skin. The Braun shaver head is slightly smaller to maneuver around tight spots (under the nose/lip and jawline). For folks with ingrown hair problem, Braun is better because it cuts less closer (and leaves slightly longer length after the shave...to allow the hair to grow outward instead of inward.

The transition from Braun to Panasonic has been a tough one, the guide/manual says you need to "train" your hair to be accustomed and that usually takes 30 days, not everyone has the patience to stick with a new shaver for 30 days. I have both shavers...I've settled on using Arc5 for travel (before that damn virus), and use Braun for my daily (or when I have zoom/in-person meetings).

Just want to share the experience because shavers have been an obsession for the past 10 years.

Do you know why the Series 9 replacement heads have terrible reviews? Not comforting when thinking about dropping $200 on a razor.

I've had my first gen Panasonic Arc5 for little over 6 years and like it a lot. But recently the motor has been acting a little strange and the battery is getting shorter. I was thinking about trying out the Braun 9 but researching replacement heads they have horrible review scores (Walmart, Bedbath, Target, Braun website). Might consider a Series 8 or 7-360 instead. Or just go with latest Arc5....

Think people are claiming the replacement heads seem to utilize cheaper materials, (causing them to go bad much quicker than the original blades). From a MFG standpoint this would basically keeps you sending $ Braun's way for the 'wearable' item... Take it with a grain of salt from a guy still running an old series 7, who's been waiting for an upgrade

I agree, I had Braun for at least 10 years and then about 8 years ago I switched to the Arc4 and have never been really happy with the shave. It always irritates my skin and makes me long to switch back. If I did use a shaver still I would probably pick this up but thankfully for work all I need is to use a trimmer.

Both replacement heads from Series 7 and Series 9 had poor reviews (especially for the price). I held off from replacing the head until the foil is broken and will physically cut your face. My Series 7 shaver is from over 14 years old (back then it was the 8xxx series) and my original shaver head was made in Germany and worked better than the more recent replacements which were made after Proctor and Gamble acquired Braun.

One of the reasons why I switched to Series 9 was to get another quality original shaver head. I have kept that as a back-up. I don't think country of origin was the problem - I think it was Braun vs. P&G ownership difference that's making inferior shaver head.
