I have one that came in handy when installing a larger capacity NVMe M.2 into my laptop. It only had one internal slot, used this external enclosure to made copy of drive in laptop. When complete, removed from enclosure and swapped with smaller drive in computer. In doing this, had to purchase cloning software but this enclosure made everything so simple.
I couldn't agree more. I actually bought a couple of these Asus'. They are excellent. I do have one SSK from a couple of years ago and its still holding up. I'm using these for extra storage on my series X. M.2 NVMEs are the way to go.
I've been looking at this S A B R E N T one [1] to potentially expand a base model M1 Mac Mini's storage. I saw in a YouTube video that the read/write speeds were nuts, but it's EXPEN$IVE. Does anyone know of a less expensive Thunderbolt 3 enclosure? I don't know about the different controllers etc—I just started researching.

I got the urlhasbeenblocked instead and that worked fine for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&
Edit. Not sure why the other manufacturer name is blocked. The O R I C O one worked, where this one did not.
The STRIX Arion supports 4 sizes of drives ( 2280/2260/2242/2230 M Key/B+M Key )
I decided to spend the extra money because it looks a lot cooler and also because the "generic" ones all seemed to have a lot of bad reviews.
normal price is $59.99 but it has been onsale at amazon for 2-3 weeks for $53.99

Not that good for NVME-USB.
Try to buy the ones with ASMedia controllers.

I wouldn't really bother with the rest in between.
