I decided to spend the extra money because it looks a lot cooler and also because the "generic" ones all seemed to have a lot of bad reviews.

I couldn't agree more. I actually bought a couple of these Asus'. They are excellent. I do have one SSK from a couple of years ago and its still holding up. I'm using these for extra storage on my series X. M.2 NVMEs are the way to go.
