Think of speakers as light bulbs and amps as lamps. Sometimes lamps have bulbs built in, like computer speakers have amps (the inverse). Typically though, they do not.
One more thing... you are correct if you are thinking there is an amp in your tv, but that only amplifies the built-in tv speakers, not external ones.

What you are looking for are speakers which are powered (but not battery powered), such as computer speakers or many soundbars. Otherwise, non-powered speakers like the ones listed will need a separate amplifier (receiver) to power them.

The cs5 are the better speakers. For more bass you need a sub especially for movies.
Both are are real good speakers.
Based upon what I've read my impression is that the BS22-LR is more balanced, neutral and the Sony's have a more pronounced top end. I dont' have either but I do have experience with a neutral Andrew Jones speaker (Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2) and have been more than happy with the neutral, balanced sound signature.
Could you link your amp? I would love to know which one you are mentioning
