Good deal on a last gen CPU. No integrated graphics so it will need to be paired with a GPU. Definitely less powerful and efficient than current Ryzens but good performance/$ so this would be a good start for a budget build.

I have an HP Pavilion 590-p0033 with intel i3-8100, 8GB ram and a GTX 1050 ti I use for 3d printing cad and gaming like rust, cs go . I just bought 16GB to upgrade the memory. Is upgrading my i3 to this worth $100?

Looks to be on par with the i3 10100 for (supposedly) around the same price.

You can theoretically get the i3 10100F from TigerDirect for $94. They are out of stock but they still let you order. It is a little sketchy given the history of the company but still legit.

probably not. You took your system is about as far as it makes to go. You would be better off holding you money and skipping a couple more generations with a new computer next year.

Like a 12th gen Intel or next series Ryzen with a better graphics card (like a GTX 3060) when the price come back down to earth.

Nope, nothing you do is demanding.

Upgrading your video card slightly would be the better move if you plan to play anything newer.

Otherwise, you're probably looking at a new system all together.

Maybe a 15-20 percent improvement, not bad, but your GPU will be the bottleneck. Still, not a bad upgrade chance for you since your MB has the same socket, I'm still on an 1150 so i would have to replace my mobo too.

This price is NOT from Walmart, it's from seller PTM which has a single 1 star review on their site.

While it is the same socket, you should make sure that your HP proprietary motherboard can support this chip, because there is a slim chance it may not. While the 8th and 9th gen share the same chipsets, older boards that were originally designed with the 8th gen in mind had to have firmware upgrades to support the 9th gen chips.

I bought a prebuilt with this in it a year and a half ago and it handles most games fairly well (paired with 1660Ti). Really demanding stuff like Cyberpunk and future titles designed with 8 core/16 thread CPUs in mind will have some trouble though so you may want to save up for something a little more capable.

I think it's worth noting that this is not being sold by Walmart.com - it's a third party seller which only has a single review/feedback and it's a 1 star review at that...

At @$100, this is a nice deal for Series 300 Socket 1151 motherboards. Sure, you need a graphics card, but if you want a cheap gaming system, you'll probably get a discrete graphics card anyways.

CPU Mark scores:
i5-9400F - 9589
i3-9100F - 6798
i3-10100F - 8890

Peace

Good catch. Better luck with a reputable seller on eBay.
