I picked this up and have been using for about a month. While I have not seen any video issues, I occasionally get a lag of ~10 sec before the audio kicks on when watching specific content. I have experienced a few other things such as specific settings not saving and sound mixing with my center does not always sound perfect. Thick could be blamed in the content though.
Since owning it, I have received 2 firmware updates labeled as 'bug fixes' so at least they are trying to do the right thing.
Sometimes I think this sounds very warm and satisfying... Other times I miss my 11 yr old Onkyo.
Over, my satisfaction is about 7/10.
Is it worth $330? Given what else is out there, yeah. But just keep in mind it may take Yamaha some time to fix what should not have been released as broken.
Yamaha TSR-700 AVR (currently on firmware 1.26)
LG CX 65" OLED (currently on firmware 3.21.09)
Xfinity XG1v4 4K STB
Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player
Zeskit 8K high speed HDMI cables all the way around
Definitive Technology ProSub 800
Klipsch Quintet SL 5.0 Speakers
Logitech Harmony One Remote
I did buy a few new hdmi cables just in case lol

"We recently reported that new receivers from Denon, Marantz and Yamaha, which claim support for HDMI 2.1, actually have very limited support for this standard and cannot output images in 4K120 and 8K60. Yamaha has advised that it will address this issue.
The company representatives clarified that the issue will affect the RX-V6A, RX-V4A, TSR-700 and TSR-400 receivers. According to Yamaha, at the time of the announcement, the company promised that receivers will receive full support for modern video formats with software updates, and now the updates will also take into account recently identified problems.
Yamaha's decision seems strange, given that the problem of the chips used in the receivers is not in the software, but in the hardware part, and most likely it will not be possible to fix it with updates. After repeated inquiries, Yamaha representatives said that they could not yet say what exactly the solution to this problem would be, but promised that they would certainly solve it."

The chipset is fundamentally broken, it cannot be fixed via firmware. What's more likely to happen, they recall millions of units for boardswaps at a cost of 9 figures... Or they just sweep it under the rug and make a 2021 model.
I'm also not totally impressed with most of the settings being on the tiny LCD screen vs HDMI out to the tv, why they don't use a 55+ tv to display features vs the tiny LCD screen is odd, unless I'm missing something.

My old onkyo receiver finally gave up the second time even after I re-soldered new capacitors onto the HDMI board about 3 years ago. Since it was 1080p standard, I wanted to upgrade to 4k. This receiver fit the bill because I wanted to experience 4k with atmos before I take a dive into more expensive receivers. Since no other receivers are really out this year that don't have hdmi 2.1 issues (panasonic chip), then this is the cheapest option to have that experience if they do fix the hdmi 2.1 issues.
For $330 it's worth a gamble to see if they fix the issues, or if you aren't running 4k/120hz quite yet.
