i have a few festool items and i come to my senses but tough to really not like some specialized like planex if you have the need. rotaries though not very specialized.

iirc shinex has a metric thread, that's going to make some things more of a pain. You'll have to get metric extensions, backing plates, etc. anyways for rotary i have dewalt 849, a ginormous dynabrade i picked up somewhere that sounds like heck but torque to spare, couple of the flex, pe9 and pe14. i really like the flex (though they're ccp owned now too iirc). dewalt for big gelcoat cutting job (but anything will work for those), and flex ppe14 for maintenance as it's light and easy to handle, better at tight spaces not as tiring if you don't use it all day every day...really tough to beat it's weight and ergonomics There's a bazillion rotaries out there now i'd just buy anything, the main thing is ergnomics, weight ,things like slim noses, rubber nose protection so you don't bang stuff, where the speed dial is that's mostly what i notice.

Got a planex off the refurb site, it worked was complete and clean, but it's not refurb "like new" like some refurb tools you buy, certainly no doubt used look to it.

Anyways just my .02 not knocking it or the deal just throwing that bit out there

Great point — didn't think about the metric thread part. I also agree re: what festool is good for. Nonetheless it's a good deal if someone wants this specific item, but before finding this deal I didn't even know the shinex existed.
