Does anyone know about the standards applied for trade in, outside of the no-cracked screen, and functional criteria. Would different grades of phones, such as, fair, good, mint get different payouts?
No solid answer. Samsung has proven to be all over the map. Some have gotten full credit with deep scratches, others have been rejected. Heavy wear and tear accepted, practically new rejected. See wiki for Samsung's official description for requirements.

That's not a screen protector. You might as well put saran wrap on your phone...

Salesperson: "Say, is that the new iPhone 12 Pro Max you got there?"
Me: "Why, yes. Yes, it is."
Salesperson: "And how much did that cost you?"
Me: "Well, not cheap. I paid over $1100 plus tax."
Salesperson: "How would you like to trade that new $1100 iPhone for a $700 credit towards this Android phone?"
Me: "Wow, WOULD I..."

I think worst of S21 design is its charging pin, it might break easily. Fingerprint on screen has always been a problem for screen protector.

So far I am liking the Ultra. Coming from S10, immediately noticed how much brighter/colorful the screen and touch responsiveness. Much faster opening apps and notifications. Way louder/clearer speakers. The fingerprint scanner is definitely better, at least twice as easy to open due to larger size and faster response. As far as connectivity, the Bluetooth seems better at connecting multiple devices, including my Fitbit (although I can't rule out a chipset issue in my old phone). Location services (e.g. Home/Away assist) have been a little finicky, but this could be Google apps problem or just need to calibrate. This is my first 5G phone and have seen speed/consistency improvements even without a SA sim.

It will take awhile to get used to the power/lock button being in a different position, and I keep smudging my cameras because of the bump. This is a bigger phone so I think I just need time to adjust. The cameras can also be a little buggy in some apps— in one that scans barcodes, it would never focus no matter the distance. Closing and reopening worked. The 100x and even 30x zooms aren't usable unless you have very bright light environment. 10x doesn't look great to me but anything below is pretty darn good regardless of lighting. Obviously there are kinks to work out after early firmware.

Battery life is good for the performance, I am getting a full day without any charging. I usually do wireless charging periodically but haven't yet just to get a feel for the battery. Wired, it charges from 30% to 100% in about an hour.

In general, I'm happy. Paid less than my Note9 back in the day and it's the closest to that experience and besting it (should never have 'upgraded' to S10 lol).

It does, but i would consider it more of a screen scratch limiter rather than a protector. Its the thin film of plastic that you see in most Samsung phones right out of the box. If you can live with a small plastic tab sticking out on the top right side that always screams "PEEL ME DAMN IT", then I guess it would work for you.

Thinking of returning my s21, didn't like it too much. I didn't feel there are many upgrades even comparing to my s8. It's basically the same phone with some extra hardware.
That can be said of everything. For your type, a Galaxy Fold or Galaxy Z Fold is more up your alley.
But wait, even those are just some extra screen that folds. So perhaps return those as well?
