I mean initiate the cancel to get another 10% refund or something. I'm not cancelling my order at all. RAku10 adjust the cash back right?

Thanks for replying!
Yes, they just adjust the cash back amount as the order amount changes

I have placed an order for a S21+ 5G 256GB which came around $757.73 after taxes. I was checking AT&T to add a line and saw that I can trade in my iPhone 7 plus, which I wanted to trade in with Samsung for S21+ 5G 256GB. I noticed that the trade in credits AT&T is giving me is $800 which is bringing down my monthly payments to 8.33 / mo for 30 months which will be $249.9. I am thinking to place an order through AT&T and cancel the order from Samsung. Am I missing anything here?
First, what are the taxes like on the AT&T deal? In some states you get charged the full sales tax amount of the phone up front.

Other than that, you are basically saving $500 at the cost of being tethered to AT&T for 2.5 years. It is up to you if that is worth it or not.

Contacted Samsung chat to discuss this and told the agent that I have photo and video proof to prove that I have done my bit in sending back the s8. The chat agent checked with some "concerned team" and came back saying that they are approving the trade in. Apparently they checked the weight information on the fedex tracking website (the weight was around a pound including the phone and its box along with all the protective packaging). They even said it happens all the time so there is nothing to worry if we have followed the trade in instructions. I have another trade in under processing which is an s20 and will be really pissed if I have to deal with similar $#!+ for that one!

Glad to hear they took care of you. Hate to say this is more common than we think. I suspect FedEx rather than Samsung. Had exact same issue with brand new unopened 20+ phone return. Had to escalated it and it was taken care of.

Pretty sure all states will charge tax on full phone price upfront (unless no sales tax states) as the "sale" price is the full price of the phone. They just "happen" to give a bill credits that equal the price of the phone over 30 months.

Only way done states would be different if the at&t allowed the tax to be calculated per month on the installment for that month only and then since they are applying a bill credit reduce the taxable amount. I don't believe ANY state would allow that since the "sale" occurs when you sign, you are not buying 1/30th of the phone every month, you are buying the phone when you signup for the deal, therefore the taxable amount is the full price.

This differs from Samsung's deal significantly since Samsung is applying your trade in as a discount on the original sale, effectively reducing the taxable amount, assuming your state allows discounts/coupons to reduce the taxable amount.

I signed up for the AT&T deal and was charged tax on the full amount. My state (NJ) does allow the taxable amount to be reduced so if I would have ordered from Samsung then my sales tax would have been reduced (and it was when I bought my S9 with trade in from them 3 years ago).

If you live in a state were discounts can not reduce taxes then it's makes the choice simpler as you only have to decide if you want 30 months of bill credits and no opportunity to upgrade/replace your phone before 30 months. If not, then you also need to factor in the additional taxes you'll be paying with AT&T. I decided for my use case that the AT&T deal was better since I keep my phones usually 3 years and have no plans on leaving AT&T. I got $800 trade in credit instead of $350 (S9 trade in) from Samsung so I saved $450 - tax lost ($25 - $30) - epp discount, etc.

I ordered 16 January 2021: Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G 512GB (Unlocked) Phantom Navy
Mine still shows Expedited, Expected Delivery : Feb 16, 2021
I also still have the cancel button there. Already received my promo item S7 Tab and sold it.
I hoping these start to ship next week as my ear buds shipped sooner than the expected date.

Some supposed real pictures of the Phantom Navy, enjoy: https://www.reddit.com/r/S21Ultra...s_phantom/

I just got the exact same email. The A71 5G is the only phone on their website and the picture is the exact same phone as well. Not sure what their issue is, but I'm going to try calling tomorrow.
Did you call or chat? What did they say? I was about to send my A71 5G for trade-in

I tried the live chat but got a noncommittal answer. She basically said there's no reason to suggest they didn't get the phone so she'll put a hold on the charge and open a ticket for it. I'm going to try calling as well but their phone line have long wait times.
