So you can cancel your Xfinity Mobile line once you receive the $400 gift card and pay off the phone?
I just put the $400 towards a one time payment towards the device balance. You could likely cancel the line as well if you didn't need it. XM allows you to transfer phones to other lines on your account without a charge.

Just my two cents for those who rely on their cell service: I can't recommend xfinity mobile after over a year of using it. They're on verizon's network, but you can tell it plays second to vzw customers. My coverage at home where it was previously full bars is now almost none (middle of metropolitan area) and I experience network slowdown and sometimes I have to completely restart my phone because I have no connection at all. Having been a verizon customer for 15 years, I'll probably go back when my payments are up on xfinity.

General XM question:

I am looking to add a relative to my XM account (currently have 3 of us on XM). We would transfer her number over from Cricket and just add her as a 4th line. I assume this should be pretty easy.

She wants a new phone so was thinking about getting her a Moto G Power (2020 model). I was hoping XM would put it on promo today but it's still the full price $250. It does look like Sam's club sells the unlocked Moto G Power at a cheaper price - it says it's unlocked so I assume would just buy it from Sam's club and take it to XM and it would activate correct?

Maybe I would qualify for a gc for transferring her number over if we are bringing our own phone too?

Thanks,

-Guru
It depends if xfinity allows that device for BYOD. If it's one they currently sell I don't see why not but you can easily chat with them.

No port in required, I just upgraded my line. You pay full price, 24 payments. They send you a $400 prepaid card. Once they send you the prepaid card you can make a one-time device payment (using the prepaid card) if you wish to cut your payoff term in half. I did this with the S20 on my account as well. It does take about 12 weeks to get the prepaid card, but still worth it.

EDIT: for existing customers, you have to make sure you are logged into the xfinity mobile site to see the upgrade offer.
Confused. The OP says must buy outright, as in pay the whole price immediately but you are saying it can be a 24 months installment. Are you sure? Don't want to pay full price now but don't want to risk $400.

One random YouTuber posting 3 clickbait videos?

Without even getting into why heating issues make no sense when going from 7nm to 5nm and integrating the 5G modem, you would think all the well known tech sites that have run extensive benchmarking on the 888 would have encountered the same problem.

Where do you live? I'm in the the Bay Area and we have used XM for 3 years now. It feels just like when we were with Verizon. We don't stream video stuff that much, but when I need to not much throttling at all. XM also gives you 5G plans at no additional cost.

No, they allow BYOD only for some iPhone, Pixel or Galaxy phones only.

The terms do say that you need to buy the device outright if upgrading the line, but I see that even for monthly payments it's adding the 400 gift card to the checkout screen, so apparently that works

I'm in a 5g area for verizon or so my phone says. It's no better than LTE speed wise from the test I've ran.

But there are two different types of 5g the sub6 and mmwave I think? I'm in the wider reaching slower variant.

I don't think 5g is worth it yet, maybe in two years
"5G" on your phone is not REAL 5G, frankly. ATT was playing that hanky panky [theverge.com] for awhile. REAL 5G is only available in a few areas. ATT calls this "5G+". Wouldn't surprise me if other carriers are doing the same.

This will be my 3rd XM phone. When you want to upgrade just log in and payoff the remaining balance. Then call them up and ask for your unlock codes. Simple process.

I just purchased the Samsung S21 Ultra on a 24 month installment and at checkout it included the $400 gift card. Of course I took screenshots because I dont trust them to not lose it in the mail.

I purchased the same device unlocked from Samsung for my wife from their deal with a trade in. With the extras it was a slightly better deal for her. I needed my payments to show up on my phone bill to get work to reimburse me for phone usage.

I'm in the Boston area and my coverage has always been excellent with XM.

It seems XM phones have less bands than the factory unlocked. Can anyone confirm? If yes, it is a deal breaker for me.

Which model is everyone going for? I'm tempted to just get the Ultra.

XM
5G NR: n2/n5/n66/n48/n12/n25/n30/n41/n71/n77/n78/n260/n261;

LTE: B13/B4/B2/B5/B46/B48/B66/B12/B3/B7/B8/B18/B19/B20/B26/B28;
GSM Quad: B5/B8/B3/B2;
UMTS Quad: B5/B8/B2/B1

Verizon
5G Network n2/n5/n66/n260/n261
Anchor Bands: B2/B4/B5/B13/B46/B66/B48
LTE Bands: B2/B4/B5/B13/B46/B66/B48
LTE Roaming: B3/B7/B8/B12/B18/B19/B20/B26/B28,
GSM/UMTS Quad, TDD LTE B38/B39/B40/B41, LTE-LAA: B46

Looks like XM version has more 5G bands. Everything else is about the same.

From what I understand, Xfinity is a MVNO of Verizon, and you should receive the same coverage as regular Verizon customers. The difference is, if the network is congested, Xfinity gets lower priority (meaning your data will be slower), but you would still be connected to the same Verizon network. I don't understand why you are experiencing poor coverage.
