To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

S21 us a downgrade on all models, except the ultra which is a side grade. Lower resolution screen, plastic backs, no MST, no removable storage, etc.

Make sure you know what youre buying and not being baited in by a discount/trade in values.
I have a basic S10. Do you think it's worth trading for this?

For # 3, you mean you can not use that same line for a upgrade, correct? I have S20FE on couple of lines that has about 20 monthly credits pending. I am thinking of paying off S20FEs, trade those and get S21 on free lines that I got during last two months. Do you see any issues with that? TIA.
Quote from sangleweb :
Well, you can but you loose all your credit as you have to stay with TMob for the credit to apply. This is how they get you to stay with them.
Let's say you get $100 for your trade in, S21 cost 800 so you T-mobile will give you $700 spreading into 24 months as long as you keep the line. The most 3 scenarios are:
  • If you paid off the remaining and cancel the line, you loose your credits
  • if you paid off so you can use the phone somewhere else and still have line open, you continue to receive the credit
  • if you paid off and try to get another promotion like Iphone 13 with credit, you will loose the S21 credit as there can only be one promo credit active per line.
This is how I understand TMob credits. Only benefits if you plan to stay with TMob otherwise this deal is not for you.

If my S9+ has a small crack in the screen Im assuming they would deduct from the $800?
Unless you go through Samsung and take the trade in price on a cracked screen.

Wow, didn't know they took out MST and SD altogether this time. Do you know if they are going to support eSIM this time at all? If not, I will just stick with my Note 10+ and upgrade to Pixel in the future.

Thanks! My Note 8 in pristine condition gets $400 while a scratched up S9 gets $800.
One generation older and it loses half its value. Not just for Samsung, iPhones are having the same issue. This year, iPhone 8 series is now one level below X/XR. It was valued the same in last year's promos.

Anyone know if I should disconnect a line on my account in the next 4/6 months, would that affect this BOGO Deal? The line being disconnected will not be the new line and the upgraded phone line, only an old phone line we plan on getting rid of in that time frame.

Costco might offer less trade in values like they did with iPhones.

Does anyone know when this promo expires?? I want to take advantage, but I'm also cautiously optimistic that Costco will have a deal...

I have Note 9. IF I go with this deal, what am I losing/gaining?

Let's say S21 Ultra for $399 after trade in.

Looks like I gain 5G, slightly faster processor, POSSIBLY better camera probably better trade in value later.
Loses headphone jack, SD card slot.

What if I get S21 256GB for $50 after trade in? $800 trade in is PROBABLY the best I would get for my Note 9 going forward IMHO.

From what i gather, there is no added line requirement for trade in (only for BOGO), correct?

3:02 PM Ok - so if I pre-order the S21 base model from T-Mobile, I will get $100 credit?
3:02 PM Exactly!
3:02 PM How do I get the credit? What will I have to do after submitting the pre-order?
3:03 PM Let me explain this.

There is a one year limit on canceling lines if you added a free add-a-line (AAL) On Us promo.

In this case, these are paid lines where you are paying a line charge every month, so if doing BOGO and waiting past 90-days to cancel an old unrelated line, it shouldn't affect your credits for the two lines associated with these phones.
