To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Thanks for clarifying. In your experience how strict have they been with the phone quality on the trade-ins? My s9 has a hairline crack on the screen that's barely visible during normal use. Is that going to be enough for them to reject the trade-in?

Tmobile is giving you 800 for that phone thats worth 100-200 dollars, and your still complaining?????
First, T-Mobile will get to keep me as their customer for 24 months AND will get paid in form of a monthly service cost - that's worth something.

Second, if you follow these promos for a while - you know there have been even better ones before, both from T-Mo and Costco/T-Mo.

Third, I'm not complaining - just stating the fact that comparing internal storage cost vs sd card slot availability is not correct. Which, along with the fact of Google Photos' free storage option going away June 1st - makes this phone (or any other one, without microSD card slot) at least somewhat unattractive.

I really don't know. I never traded one with any sort of screen damage. An iPhone had some scratch marks on the back and that passed, but there was no cracks.

BTW, if you'd paying off a phone to shuffle the credits from line to account, it takes about an hour to kick in. I did it and was a bit surprised when it wasn't showing up immediately ("we'll add $612 to your bill at checkout"). I tried again an hour later and it said my handset was paid off.

Am on a chat with TMobile right now, they themselves are confused when I showed them the DocuSign which says I need to pay the $720 diff in 24 payments apart from the $80 credit I get for S9. I am waiting for them to confirm that in spite of me signing a document that I will pay $35 per month for 24mo, TMobile will still magically send me bill credits for the $720 huh. The rep is out to confirm with possibly next tier.
I was on the phone with T-Mobile for 40 minutes discussing the same thing. The promotional T&Cs say that you will lose your EIP credits if you Exchange or Return a device. For some dumb reason they think a trade in is an exchange which it is not. I have nothing but time to kill so I'm going to keep pushing this.

I know you will keep getting the monthly credit for the S20 FE but are you saying that you will also get a monthly credit for the S21 in addition to the S20 FE if you trade in the FE after paying it off?
Yes. You keep both

Really don't want to trade in a s10+ for this....but longer I keep the s10+, the resell value will diminish as well as battery degradation...someone convince me otherwise to not pull the trigger...please..
If you think about it there are really good chances the S10 series will be included in the next galaxy deal, a year from now even. Just look at how the S8 was part of previous deals and now they are not, same thing will happen with S9 and so on with the coming years. I'll hold onto my S20FE for now. Should be good for for the Galaxy S22.

Any cracks is a no go for the full bill credits promo.( the $720 part) In addition, you will get a reduced trade in value . Scratches and small dings are okay.
This is why investing in a good case is priority to maintain value of the phone.

Damn so you think they'll reject it even if it's a pretty minor crack that's more of a scratch? You barely notice it when you use it, but I guess if you bought it refurbished and it looked like this you wouldn't be happy.

Thinking of getting the 512gb S21 Ultra. What sucks is knowing that in a few years, T-Mobile and Samsung will offer the same trade-in value for it as the lowest end S21.

So my wife has a s10 and i have a s10+. I am thinking just trading hers in for the s21? We have been with tmobile for years now so the bill credits isnt really a concern to me.

Now for trade in, do I hold on to my s10 till I receive the new phone? Cause I do not want her to be without a phone.. And I would qualify for the $100 samsung credit as well right? So basically free phone (excluding tax) and the $100 samsung credit?
