To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

Bought a Pixel 4A for $200 from the Walmart deal, looks like it's going to traded in for this.
I got the $200 deal. Mine is still in the box. Was gone flip it for $300 but I might just trade it in for the S21.

Anyone seeing $800 off for trade in? I'm seeing $80 value for my S9.
$720 spread across 24-months in bill credits, if your phone is in good condition. That's how T-Mo trade in works. $80 is immediate and you can use that to pay taxes/activation etc.

One generation older and it loses half its value. Not just for Samsung, iPhones are having the same issue. This year, iPhone 8 series is now one level below X/XR. It was valued the same in last year's promos.
That's why I'm trading in my basically new S20 FE - I'm betting since it was the "budget" line, it'll get treated like an iPhone SE for trade-in purposes (vs. the nearly identical iPhone 8) next year.

But this is never mentioned on the checkout page at all, just that you're getting $80 for your device. Is that just how T-Mobile does it? Would have to buy a phone full price and miss the deal.

Samsung and T-Mobile are like a 2nd Christmas. I got the S20 FE a few months ago, basically for free ($200 loyalty + trade-in), and got a bunch of SmartThings as a bonus. Now I'm trading that in - net +$100 if I get the pre-order bonuses.

They're like car salesmen - they lose money on each sale, but make it up in volume! :-/

Meh. Nothing here that makes me want to pay $1200. The days of saying "wow" when you upgrade a phone are over it looks like. If this thing rolled out like that LG rollable phone that'd be sick as hell. I don't care about cameras. I don't care about this phone.

Might as well. I did that with my 3a that I got basically for free for the S20 FE, and now trading that for the S21. The S21 will be worth more if you accept the credit rating hit for a few months.
