To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

I just chatted with a Tmobile rep and he said the Essentials Plan is ok for this deal. I hope he's right because I don't want to go through the same again 😡
I have a grandfathered plan and the Upgrade button is grayed out. When you say Essentials plan was not OK for S20 FE, did you mean it was not qualified for promotion or the plan will not work on the phone?

Is it better to do this at the store? Should I wait till the store has the phone in stock to do this deal or will it have ended already?
I think phones get this on Jan 29 and the promo is for preorder until Jan 28.

I haven't read through this whole thread but is there any thought as far as the Samsung deal vs this if you have an s20?
I honestly wouldn't do the trade in if I had a S20. Seems at best a sidegrade trading pixel density, micro sd, MST, ram for a better processor, debatable useful screen refresh rate, etc.

Seems like a much better deal for older phones like the s9/10, but if you had to pick one I think the t-mobile one is cheaper overall but it's in 24monthly bill credits (which I tend to hate because I've came across so many "billing errors")

Guys make sure your plans qualify. I have Essentials and found out the hard way when the FE 20 had the same promo Frown
I have Essentials Plan and traded in my S9 for S21. I messaged Team Expert and they re-assured me that the $800 promotional credits will be applied within 1-2 Billing Cycles. There is nothing in the Terms and Conditions mentioned about QUALIFIED plan; only qualified devices.

I took a screenshot in case they want to play games like last time. But I was the dummy, if I were to read all of TofuVics guide, it said that the Essentials Plan was not part of that deal. But this is one is looking more promising. The wife will be super happy!

It was not qualified for the promotion on that occasion, even tho the lady who I spoke to on the phone assured me I was good. I had to fight with them and only got $350 out of the $500 (I traded my S9) and it turned out the Essentials Plan wasn't part of the Insider Code Type 2 deal either! So I missed on those $200 too. But oh boy am I ready on this one. Took a bunch of screenshots of the chat with the Tmo Rep.

No micro sd is really bothering me. I always store all my pics, docs, movies on my SD card and leave my phone nice and clean for storage space and not bogging the phone down with tons of files. I'm thinking of passing and waiting for LG. I got the V60 and it has everything, great camera, sd card and a nice headphone jack !!!

The rest will be monthly bill credits over 24 months. Checkout does not describe this but after adjustments to the bill you will receive $800 total for your trade after 24 months.

Why can't that be in writing? How do I know it's legit?
Its the dumbest thing that Tmo does for these promos, but many people do these promos and its just how it works every time.

Only showing $80.00 for my S9... I don't see where it shows $710 bill credits over 24 months for it
It won't show the promo part but next bill the promo credits will be setup to total $800 for your trade after 24 months

Does anyone know if I need to pay off the trade in phone before I send it in or before I pre order S21?
If you are doing it via Tmobile and trading in a device with remaining payments, it will ask you to pay it before you can proceed with the order.
