I have the older version of this and while the battery is not meant to be user serviceable, replacing it yourself is both easy and cheap. A new battery is about $15 on Amazon and replacing it just involves using a shim to pop the case open. ifixit.com has a guide.

Your advice is still good advice. I'm just saying it's not the end of the world if you do have to replace the battery.
This same unit was on SD a couple weeks ago for $108 shipped direct from FLIR. Received mine before Christmas, works great btw.
You can use the real deal ( Flir or Fluke) for free ( SF for me or check your Utilty Co. ) https//pge.myturn.com/library/ Free tool loan!

They don't check them out usually to my knowledge. For a fee, they will 3D print your 3D model file.

Some utilities have efficiency programs that include a free visit with a IR camera to help locate issue areas of your home. Just FYI.

The first gen units suffered from a horrible clicking noise as it took a temperature reading once every few seconds. Not sure if these still suffer from the same flaw or not. The clicking was so bad that I sent mine back as it wouldn't work for my intended purpose. Kinda hard to use it for spot and stalk hunting if your prey can hear you.

Does this show when someone is on their period?
Just ask, that's a sure-fire way to find out.

Would it make sense to buy a cheap no-name android phone to use this? I have an iPhone but those cameras are expensive.

Some have it built-in, but I think the quality of the built-in ones are not too good:

The Blackview BV9900 Pro and the Ulefone Armor 9 Flir [ulefonemobile.com] are a couple of examples.

Just received my Flir One Pro in the mail yesterday. $255 before tax. Found a random coupon code that appears to give an extra 15% off the entire Flir One line at Flir.com.

Coupon Code: EBDITC3
The Flir One Pro is $399 at flir.com. How did your 15% coupon reduce it to $255?

This is a toy compared to things like HTI-301 [amazon.com] with 384 x 288
<$300 VS. >$766?

I'm okay with a toy.

maybe at night without anything obstruction between the critter and camera.. But to see one behind the wall and or in the attic is not practical .. The actual flir website shows the outline of a rat behind the ceiling of a roof promoting that it can see not only the heat signature but also the outline of an actual rat... I purchased the PRO version not the cheaper Pro LT version listed here and my experience would give the rating of fair to poor for the purposes of critters behind walls.. Also . it would not see a stud behind thin sheetrock and it advertised on the flir website it would do that as well.

Can use this to see animals in the dark while camping?
this has very poor distance for seeing a raccoon in a tree.. But it is not built for that..
Flir has a line of "thermal image monoculars" for that purpose.
