I went to the same corporate store and got 2 N10 and 2 N100 for $100. The guy tried to lie to me that I need pay $120 and set up auto pay to get the $100/4 lines deal and I said that was not correct. The guy just said "ohh, you know everything and you are like a boss" and proceeded with $100 cash.
I ported 2 numbers.

Funny thing: my friend went to the same exact store and the store not only said $120 with auto pay is required and that my friend could only get 2 N10 and 2 samsung A21, not 2 N100. My friend left with empty hands.
These stores are like shit.

Ok, well I went to the corporate store and used my number from the $1 Ting sim I got at Target. I was able to port it with no problems. I asked for the $30 2gb service plan but was told that's only for flip phones. So I signed up for the $40 one, paid no activation fee, no taxes. I'd say that's a pretty good deal.
For the Ting pin to port out, I had to call their customer service. It took 2 minutes.
You got lucky in that your Ting number was not owned by TMo. Mine is, so it is not eligible.

Update: Ting also uses Verizon, so that is likely why you were able to port. The ONLY way to switch Ting to VZ according to Ting customer service is: port your number out to a Verizon carrier and port number back in to be on the Verizon network.

Can I get the pin number for an expired ATT prepaid phone number?

I don't think that I set up anything before just let it expire. Can I still port in metro?

Ting has sim kits with Verizon and T-Mobile sims in the kit, pick the kit with 2 sims and activate the Verizon one.

Those I got from Target (regional offering? or older/newer? I'm in the Pacific NW) had only 1 SIM. I'm looking at one I got from BB today, and it has 2: those are marked X1 and V1. The Target ones have no such markings.

I'm guessing V1 is Verizon, X1 is TMo.

Another question: I live in WA but can almost throw a rock across the river into OR, the land of no sales tax.

Is there sales tax charged on the free phones in states with sales tax? If yes, ROAD TRIP!

Yeah you have to watch the stores. they are shady for sure, had all kinds of charges and slipped me extra cheapo phones for my other two lines. called metro to resolve with no luck and I think their call center is in china, and got no help. Had to cancel it with my cc card and we'll see how it goes.
