Haven't read all the posts so maybe it's been answered but why are they dragging everyone into a brick and mortar store in the middle of the covid situation? Is there a reason this couldn't be done online?

went to 2 different metro AD and came back disappointed. AD1: gave my info and port number. they said computer is telling them 'customer not eligible for plus promotion'. I wanted to check out the computer screen myself but they said not allowed. told them to take a screenshot and show me but they said no. i had checked my number and all with metro customer service prior and it looked good. thinking something is not right here
AD2: took my personal info and boost port number info. they said that the boost account is in a different name and that I havent paid my bill and that the number is not active. then they were rude and told me to leave.

So what's the response to the salesperson that is adamant he can't do anything? I'm wondering if 4 of these phones are worth the $211 it would cost me.
The answer is you are/were at an "authorized reseller" aka not a direct metro store. They can't collect money from you by calling it a tax and then pocketing it as profit, that's highly illegal. The N10s are about $300 each right now, the n100 are about $180, but you'll have to wait 6 months to use them. I can't make that decision for you. I got some, it was a good deal for $120 after tax, they are just sitting in a drawer now. 4 phones for $120 is a great deal if they are absolute trash, and these are not. In 6 month's I'll decide, maybe just give them away.

This hasn't been answered, but 2 years ago metro had an excellent deal with the LG v35 online and in store. During the pandemic, as we all know, we have to go into the store for a deal.
Sam's club offers the $45 credit with a membership making it effectively free. I've done this twice already, both times it was an online credit. This year they are making me go in and getting a physical $45 gift card from the customer service desk.
I can't help but to think this is a so called "political" situation where some of the heads of these companies don't believe in Covid or the pandemic and just want to see foot traffic look better.
What other reason is there to make people do irresponsible things in order to get their offer?

Has anyone tried porting in a number that's been away from T-Mobile's network for over 3 months, but under 6 months?

It used to be 3 months, but they seem to have changed their verbiage to say that the number has to have been outside of TMo for 180 days.
I did this deal after being away from metro for just over 4 months. Give it a try but just know that it depends on the store. This deal is a big YMMV.

Edit: I misunderstood. Mine were cricket numbers. I have no experience porting in previous tmo numbers.

It does appear, at least from the various posters in this thread, that the "6 months between free phones" thing is indeed semi-flexible.

It does seem peculiar that so few have reported problems porting in their freshly-bought Boost numbers.

Metro PCS Corporate called and emailed me very eager to talk to me about the port in denial. I wasn't able to answer the phone at that time and they leave at 3:30pm Central time but that sure woke them up. They definitely didn't like that inquiry.

Maybe for the simple fact that Metro is inept and wanted to make it harder than necessary to not give free devices away too easily? If this was done online, you know there would be way more success story from people.

Actually what they are doing is Bait and Switch, they cannot enforce additional conditions other than what they advertised.

Also if these conditions are specifically applied to you then that could be discrimination as well. Sure they can have the right to refuse service but it's not without conditions

Which store do you recommend? I don't see any other CS close
There's no other one I saw either. I don't have a recommendation. It's just a gamble. I was lucky enough they didn't ask for the phones and I went to the same store as you

I've ported about 5 numbers through T-Mobile before, two of which were Boost Numbers from eBay and a handful through T-Mobile. At no time during my process did they ever ask more for more than the account number, the phone number, and the PIN (along with Carrier, but they can derive that easy enough). It should be up to NPAC to validate the information provided is correct (in which case with T-Mobile and an AT&T port in, it was not correct and I was able to revalidate it). They're just unnecessarily gate keeping.

Drawer trick: Metro phones will automatically unlock after 6 months, service not required.
Do we have to open and insert the sim card to start the clock?
I was given 4 phones to open myself as I was short on time.
I opened one.
Do I need to open the rest?
They all show on my online account with metro.
Thanks in advance

No one knows for certain, since it's very rare for Metro reps to let customers leave without opening the boxes themselves. There are too few people who have experienced this and reported back.

My guess? You don't have to since the system already thinks the phones have been activated. But that's just a guess.

Unless you have a good reason to leave them unopened, why chance it?
