I tried to do the deal today but they wouldnt port a Tello number. I know thats Sprint/Tmobile, but I thought some here had been able to port from Tello and get the free phone. It was a corporate store and I think they would have wanted to call my phone number before porting so I'm not sure buying a number to port would work.

I ported two Tello numbers in a CS and get two new numbers, I told a girl it's Sprint's MVNO. She said because it's Sprint numbers, I have to sign up for 4 lines for $120. I know it was bullshit but I accepted. The girl went to the back room and came back said her boss wanted her to call one of the port-in numbers because the phones are high values. I said okay because I bought the phone with me. She even lied to me that I have to pay $20 each for N100. I said okay. When checkout, she said $120, paid in cash and she opened all four phones.

Just got back from a CS. First time going there, lots of covid restrictions. Upon arrival, supervisor approached me and asked me what I wanted, I told the Sup I wanted the 4 lines deal from the window w/ 2 ports. the Sup wanted to see my phones, I have the phones with me. Sup proceeded to assign me to an associate. Associate took my ID, my phones info and disappeared. Then she came back with 4 new phones and did her works on the computer. When the associate was punching in the info, she called the SUP over,......I heard faintly the sup told her to give me the phones for free but put warnings on the account. Then Sup approached me and said: Corporate sent out a memo because there has a lot of customers are committing fraud, paying for one month then cancel and get a thousand dollars worth of free phones, or take out the sims and sell the phones right away, etc. Sup said I will give you the phones, but I have to put a flag in the system, if you do what I have mentioned, you will be blacklisted.......... fastforward, I paid in cash and have the phones with me.
Questions, If let the numbers die after one month, what is most likely going to happen to me since they have my ID info? Can the store blacklisted me in the system so I can no longer participate in the future deal? Will my phones not be able to unlock after 6 months? Should I setup an online account to monitor any adverse status?

I would say not to worry. Unlock shouldn't be affected even if the account is flagged. Most of us probably will be blacklisted if they are really taking actions. Maybe they won't run such deal in the future if they decide this is a bad strategy, but require a rebate for example.

I was surprised to see my T-Mobile SIMs didn't work, I had imagined (wrongly I now realize) that as a TM Mvno it would work.

Any way to use the phone on T-Mobile until the 6 month unlock period ?

There were a few I found on eBay - just don't trust some one asking to remote in.

But thanks, you've confirmed that the only way to use it on T-Mobile is to unlock it

however metro didn't seem to learn anything from the iphone 6s debacle what 3 4 years ago?
(well maybe they did as iPhone se requires rebate).

but still continue to have such promotions.
mind boggling.

The promotion is only up for 2 weeks. How do they know how many people not paying 2nd month but keeping the phones?

SDers might still be a minority. Metro might have brought in many new customers with only 1 or 2 lines, and trick them to buy most expensive plans, ins, cases, sneak in activation fee. Most still get samsung, LG, never heard of oneplus. As soon as someone walks in, asks for 4 oneplus, it's a flag, definitely not usual users.

When I called AD yesterday, asked what's the final cost for 4 oneplus, the guy said $480. I asked for breakdown, $160 plan, each phone $30 tax $20 activation $30 xxx. I said there is no activation fee, and what was the last $30. He said case and screen protector. I don't want accessories. He said then $200 total. When I stepped into the store, he asked me to swipe card first before even putting any info in computer. What a scam bag. Metro must have made a lot of money by lying to people. I don't have any bad feeling of taking free phones from them at all.
