Yes, only those devices that are explicitly stated zero fee are able to be waived activation fee. As for the specific product page listing activation fee, it's normal because it's general rule and metro doesn't update that page often to be consistent with an ongoing promotion. As soon as somewhere on metro's site mentiones zero fee for a specific device, it would be zero fee for the device.

Before metro changed the promotion, it was zero fees as soon as you switch and the zero fee promotion applied to all devices, even though the product page for each phone still stated activation fee required. Metro doesn't update product page to reflect promotion.

My Moto G Stylus purchased on 8/17/20 unlocked today using app. I could make calls with Verizon sim but couldn't get data to work and didn't have the time to muck around with apn settings. From past experience I'm sure AT&T or TMobile will work fine.
Did you have continious 6 months of active service with metro before you unlocked?

No I just paid for 1 month and put it in the sock drawer. This is the 8th phone I unlocked this way.
These are great deals only for people who have patience and have access to a corporate store.

Have you ported out the number that was tied with the phone while it was sitting in the drawer?

Still no tax in corporate stores for free phones.

Corporate stores only charge tax on the deal price, which is zero for free phones, not on the original price.

Was the original SIM inside the phone at the time you unlocked the phone? I assume that the unlock app used wifi data.

Question about porting process. If I were to get 4 phones, 2 port n10 and get 2 free n100, do I have to bring my friend in, or can I go in by myself and give them the 2 Phone #, pin, acct # in order to do the port?

Also, do they still charge $20 for activation fee in a corporate store?

not sure.

this deal is ~ 1month old.

most of the "seasoned" vets have already taken advantage.

today:
best is for u to try & report back. what the state of the deal is today.

be sure to review the wiki before u try.

GL.
I seriously wished I visited this thread again before visiting a corporate store today... I last looked at this thread when it was first posted...

Anyways, I went to a corporate store in the bay area today (called ahead of time to confirm free N10s, and two N100s with two port in numbers). Great, $20 activation fee, no big deal.

I was forced to show them my ID so that they could enter all my info and I think they might have taken a picture with the store ipad. I ported two numbers over from Tello.

They asked if I wanted the 4 for $100 deal which I said yes. They gave me a subtotal of $226 and I didn't think much of it since I thought it included the tax and fees. They didn't bother explaining that they're charging me $37 service payment per phone prior to payment. They also required a card and said that the automatic payment is required in order to get the 4/$100 deal.

All in all, I've been had for a grand total of $246 with the activation utility tax of $8 and $80 activation fee for 4 phones. Feeling like a complete idiot for not coming back to this thread before going to the store. I'm now reading the return details and I can't even get a refund for service fees...
