Boss Audio BE10ACP Car Stereo -Android CarPlay Digital Multimedia Receiver - $229 at Autozone B&M only, $329 everywhere else

I'm saying that it's not a totally useless feature, but typically when you're using android auto or apple's car play you're going to have to plug it in regardless (for charging purposes). What difference does it make whether you plug it into the head unit or the cigarette lighter outlet? I can't answer the question of the cost to have it (I'm sure it's a little more involved than just an antenna) but the aftermarket manufacturers do have it on a bunch of their models. Sometimes it costs double or more for that feature, well to get a unit with that wireless feature. That's the way it's been for a lot of years now on a lot of other things. For example, you go to get a basic commuter car from a dealership and notice that a base model you were looking at doesn't have a feature that you want like say cruise control. They have it though on an upgraded model which has keyless start, power sunroof, nicer wheels, etc. etc. So you essentially end up paying 5 grand for cruise control if you really want to have it.

And I just wanted to say a word about those no name brand android head units out there. I know that they cram a ton of features into those headunits but I've looked into those in the past and they're typically junk (especially the ones on Amazon). I've noticed over the years that a lot of items pop up on Amazon and then disappear a few months later. And a lot of these items have a ton of "good reviews". As a matter of fact I had a few of those headunits in my cart when I was shopping around for them less than 2 years ago that are no longer available. From my research it sounds like they work for a few months then start to act up. By that point Amazon wont accept them back and there's no warranty support to speak of. I know that Boss isn't anything too great but the fact that Crutchfield carries them means that they can't be all that bad now (I've dealt with them many times in the past and they always stand behind what they sell).

Neither of my vehicles have steering wheel controls but the Boss unit has an input wire for them.
The Jensen you mentioned is $20 more on Crutchfield but is $120 more than the Autozone price for the Boss with a few less features. I equate Boss and Jensen the same quality. Neither is amazing.
I don't have an issue with the dimmer but I do keep my dash lights on full brightness while driving. Maybe that's the difference?

Replaced a two year old JVC with this one as the Bluetooth was intermittent at best. The final straw was the Bluetooth disappearing when I ended a call. It would show connected to my phone but wouldn't respond. Had to power cycle the radio and disable/enable Bluetooth on my phone for it to work again.

Crutchfield carrying these is what made me even consider it. Being $100 cheaper is what made me buy it from Autozone. When I saw the 1 year Autozone warranty come up on the receipt, I was really happy with my choice.

Yeah, I think you get an extra year with Crutchfield from what I can tell (something about being a platinum vendor or some crap). I've been ordering from Crutchfield though for 30 years since I first heard of them (back in mail in order catalog days). Sometimes if it's a little bit less on Amazon or something then it makes more sense to just order from Crutchfield since you get free installation gear plus support. The support thing really comes into play when dealing with something like a car alarm or remote starter. You never know what kinds of issues you're gonna run into.

Also, has anyone else found this headunit at this price? Curious if this was a one off thing or not a lot of stores have it. Or maybe it was some sort of price mixup (don't want the alert the reseller crowd with the other word LOL) since the other two multi media head units (the ones they have on their site) are priced slightly less on Amazon. Wondering if they even have it at my local store (that one seems to be really small and has a bunch of nothing) so I'll probably have to drive to a bigger Autozone that's around 15 miles away.

I don't know how far and wide you looked but you can get something just as good or better, for a lot less than $999. Don't know where you got that figure. Sure, the oversized screen seems to be a nice feature but Jensen [crutchfield.com] has one just like it. As far as the other features go, it seems to be lacking from what I can tell on the Crutchfield description (no high pass filters and limited low pass filter options, only vanilla 10 band eq, no time alignment, etc). This headunit has a dimmer input but reviews say that it doesn't get dim enough for nighttime driving. And reviewers mentioned that steering wheel controls didn't work either. That right there would be a deal breaker for me. Have you tried the steering wheel controls? Are they not programmable?

They seemed to be priced about the same looking around online. All I was pointing out is that I don't think this is anywhere near comparable to a thousand dollar unit like he was suggesting. It has a nice large screen but that's the main standout since it's lacking in a lot of other departments. And I would bet the farm that it isn't of the same quality and durability. It's a good sale price on a lower end head unit with Android auto.

Ok confirmed there are a couple auto zones in the Bay Area that carry this deck.

I'm going to hit up a much larger Autozone on my way home tomorrow and see if they have the BE10ACP. Like I said in a previous post, this must be some sort of price mixup because the zone's prices are very similar to Amazon's from what I can see and it's way too new to be on clearance (Amazon says that's it's only been available since Nov '20). I was looking at Amazon and the only one at that price with carplay is this one [amazon.com]. Since it wasn't on the shelf I can only guess if that was it or not, why can't Autozone have what they sell in store on their site too? Maybe it's just mis-categorized on their site and will only come up if you look up the sku/item #. Anyone who's bought this care to look on their receipt to see if it's on there? May cut down on the wild goose chases.
