Been a long while since I posted a deal. Just ordered for in-store pickup. Check to see if available for pickup near you. Price seems decent for the specs.

https://www.officedepot.com/catal...at=1462026

Description

15.6" LCD with an anti-glare surface presents a bright, clear picture. FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution yields a high level of image detail, and LED backlighting provides a thinner, more energy-efficient screen.

Get the processing power you need from a 10th Gen Intel Core i3. Multitask through you workload.

8GB of memory is available to run powerful programs and games.

256GB solid state drive holds your songs, photos, documents and other files. Solid state drives have no moving parts, which generally results in faster start-up times, reduced heat production and less drain on the battery than hard drives.

Memory card reader simplifies file transfers. Accepts microSD™ cards (sold separately).

Features 2 USB 3.2 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports and 1 USB-C port. USB 3.0 is up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, yet fully compatible with USB 2.0.

720p HD webcam lets you video chat with friends, family and colleagues.

SonicMaster audio produces rich, dynamic sound for your media.

Bluetooth® technology permits wireless connections between the laptop and enabled printers, speakers, headphones and other devices.

Use the HDMI™ port to view content on your HDTV (HDMI cable sold separately).

Fingerprint reader provides secure access to your data.

Stays powered for up to 8 hours. Battery life will vary depending on the product configuration, product model, applications loaded on the product, power management setting of the product, and the product features used by the customer. As with all batteries, the maximum capacity of this battery will decrease with time and usage.

Runs on Microsoft® Windows 10 Home in S mode.

Backed by the manufacturer's 1-year limited warranty.

For the average user, this will meet or exceed most people's needs. I bought one in Dec and have been quite happy with it. Actually, I bought two laptops. This and the $150 Walmart deal. Both were heavily discussed on Slickdeals.

This has 4gb soldered RAM and a separate 4gb stick. I put the 4gb stick in the Walmart pc, bringing it to a very usable 8gb. Then I inserted a 16gb Crucial stick from Amazon (about $50). The unit recognizes the full 20gb, which is admittedly overkill. Startup and shut down times are very quick. Mine actually has an extra space of an SSD but you have to supply a rather unique cable.

Note that this comes with Windows S but it literally only takes a couple minutes to "upgrade" to a normal (Home) version which allows you to load software from sources other than Microsoft store.

I will search for the old thread so you can read up on mods folks have made. Highly recommend reading this and watching YouTube video from Cadillac Computer on how best to open the case and transition out of S. Also recall reviewers complaining about the camera, but that was insignificant to me.

The 256 drive sounds small but you can supplement this with dirt cheap micro sd cards. Bought a 64gb at Microcenter for about $6 last week.

I had a boatload of reward dollars nearing expiration (many Duracell battery purchases for the family!) and was also lucky to have a super nice store manager who gave me 20% off of the then-sale price of $329.99. Being a VIP member now and 25% rewards, its about the same net. A very good deal.

For those wary of an i3, know this is the latest gen and smokes earlier releases.

Can you provide a link to the 16gb stick that you used?

I used the coupon code for the rewards After purchase, the 20%, but do not see them in my account, I assume it takes some time?

Thanks OP, ordered one for my son last night (free shipping); used $19 in rewards that I forgot I had until Office Depot emailed me about it. Were gonna expire on 1/31 anyway, so this was perfect timing. It already shipped this morning and supposedly will arrive on Thursday via UPS.
