Chiming in to say that this is one of the best video games ever made, and probably the best open world sandbox game ever. Every gamer should play it, and I envy anyone who still has to experience this game for the first time.
The BOTW is far from "the best open world sandbox game". There are too many good, mediocre, and bad open world games, but the BOTW is among the mediocres at the best. Even the Might & Magic 6 (1998) has much more fun IMHO. I have beaten the BOTW and played/beaten other open world games, and I can easily pick up a long list of them that are superior to the BOTW. Downvote me if you'd wish, but Nintendo and its overpriced Nintendo games have become some sort of cult, and this cult shows its uninsultable eccentricity.

This is probably the best game that was ever created for the Nintendo Switch
The only game I played on the Switch, and my Switch has been sitting there collecting dust since.

You're entitled to your opinion on the matter, but for me the map not being populated with random activities was huge for me. I was excited to explore and discover new shrines (that were each unique unto themselves) and such, whereas with say, Ubisoft open worlds, feel like chores.

Agreed! It takes a long time for me to travel to the next objective because I keep finding things that make me pause to explore, or a suspicious rock formation that has a Korok seed, or a mob camp to attack. There are so many secrets and locations to explore and admire and side quests that go beyond the main story, but it really adds to the play value of the game.

Love Nintendo first party games - 4 year old $60 game is $40

Brand new $60 Cyberpunk is $30 already
There's a reason... one met or exceeded the high expectations and hype, and is still in demand, the other was a giant let down that everyone on the internet has been trashing.

Idk why people were so excited for Cyberpunk to begin with. It always looked like a run of the mill GTA clone to me.

Agreed, my nephews birthday is next weekend and I've been tracking this game. There are used, cartridge only copies selling on ebay for this price or more. I placed my order as soon as I saw this deal.

I played SMO through twice to full completion. Definitely some very challenging bits, like that bridge you have to run down and then back underneath with the bullet chasing you. Non-stop action in SMO.
To 100% completion, yes, I'm sure there some challenging parts. But, the main storyline was a breeze. If I didn't beat one of bosses the first time, I always got it the second time unless I just got really unlucky or did something stupid. Even Bowser I beat on the second try.

For Zelda, everything's pretty challenging and puzzles can be difficult. Just a little tedious and time consuming with all the necessary exploration.

My son is 8 years old and he and one of his friends play this game on switch.
I would recommend against getting kids his age getting this game as it is pretty addictive for them.
He finishes his time allotment of hour and a half everyday and then cries for more time. The whole time he keeps thinking the game which is proving really bad for his focus on other things and causes altercation between me and my wife as I was against getting him Switch in the first place.
If you have some tips to make it a pleasant experience for all of us, please share. I acknowledge that it is his childhood and the time to play video games etc before adulthood steals the fun. However, no amount of time seems to be enough. The end result of several hours of play is still crying and sadness for him then what is the point?
I know each child is different. Just my 2 cents.

Ever get cheaper than $40? Daughter just got Switch from Santa, and I think is too young to really play this. Maybe next year. But would price ever go down from this?

I don't get it. People work hard, spend their money on the kids and somehow Santa gets all the credit for giving the gifts! Why not say that I worked and got you this present, daddy or mommy love you so much that they are trading their life so that you child can have some fun!

No suggestions, this was basically me playing the game, and I'm an adult.

It did take a while to "get into" it. And the whole "do whatever you want, when you want" was a bit frustrating to me as early on I never really knew where I was supposed to be going. Online wasn't much help because the answer was "wherever you want". Then I'd go run up a mountain only to find out that later on, that the path I skipped had a shrine that had a bandana that would've helped me immensely. And it goes from difficult/impossible to beat certain enemies early game (e.g., Lynels) to laughably easy with the right gear.
Then for better/worse, the bosses were never challenging (even early game) - and I'm definitely not a very good 'gamer'

I sold my copy purchased for $44.99 from Best Buy in eBay for $42 when digital was offered for $39.99. These Switch games are holding value compared to PS and XBOX titles.

I'm not a master at being a parent, but the more you and your wife are on the same page, the better it will be for your kid(s). Make sure your kid understands that playing is a privilege and not to be taken for granted. Consider consequences for crying after getting the privilege of playing.
