It's not even close. Odyssey is so much of a better platformer in every way than 3D World. Tight controls, challenging stages, genuinely difficult puzzles, new and interesting gameplay mechanics, and huge unique maps.

The only thing 3D World has over Odyssey is the 4 player co-op which creates a different kind of fun in trying to get everyone to the finish line.

I'm looking forward to the Switch port of 3D World so I can play it all over again, but to say it's better than Odyssey is very disingenuous.

Mario 3D World is a much better game. I have both but keep playing 3D World on Wii U rather than the Odyssey on the Switch.

I suggest to wait for the controller+digital edition deal, which was $60 something, if you need a controller. The game is super fun.
