I was able to get this printer for a little less direct from anycubic.
Their shipping department was a joke though, no tracking....it just showed up a week later.
We people weren't so lucky and are still waiting for their orders from November.

It's a great printer, not a bad deal to pay a little more to get it within a few days

The regular Photon has a much better sale than the Mono on Anycubic's website... Is the Photon that much better?

You mean is the Mono better? Yes. It's way faster, a 8s per layer resin on one can be 1.8s on the other for example, and the screen life is longer (because it's absorbing less UV, which is why the resin cures so much faster).

THe photon is the predecessor to the Mono. The main differences are: a different build plate mechanism (I believe they shifted away from the ball & grub screw setup) and the monochrome LCD screen which lasts significantly longer but also cures significantly faster.
I have the Photon S and almost wish I could have waited for the Mono (if I knew it even existed)

Would this be a good model to get into 3D printing with? How does it compare to some of the other recently posted 3D Printers?

A8 Plus DIY 3D Printer with 300*300*350mm build area $189

Creality LD-002R LCD Resin 3D Printer $169

Sovol SV02 Dual Extruder 3D Printer 280*240*300 mm US$345.99 Free Shipping

TBH, I think it's easier to start off with a FDM printer like the A8 Plus (from your list) or a creality Ender 3. The materials are a bit easier to work with and you're not dealing w/ liquid resin, which is toxic for any kind of contact w/ living things (even after curing, there is always some monomers leaching, so it's bad for using it in any situation where you go through prolongued skin contact or food contact).
FDM printers can be a bit annoying at first in terms of learning about leveling the bed, supports, and replacement parts, but once you're comfortable with that, a resin printer is a good NEXT printer. I do recommend you put the resin printer in a garage or a place where it can be properly ventilated. Resin fumes (even the eco ones) can give you nasty headaches and it permeates the air really quickly. I did a 2hr print on my photon S when i first got it in my office and it spread through the entire first floor within the hour and everyone got a nasty headache from it.
Another thing to note is that, price wise, you can't compare a FDM printer to a SLA/DLP printer because they're different printing technologies. SLA/DLP printers are generally more expensive per build volume but they're significantly faster if you do a full plate print. FDM printers are better for large scale prints (like a mandalorian helmet or pieces of a prop sword print) but they are generally much slower than resin printers.
I haven't used the creality LD-002R or the Sovol but the main favorites are usually the Anycubic or the Elegoo branded printers.
If I were to buy a resin printer today, I'd go w/ the monochrome printer over anything standard LCD for cost and speed reasons. (monochrome lasts longer and requires a significantly lower exposure time).
but if you have never done 3d printing, start w/ FDM first. it's a bit more forgiving and a lot less post processing (and non toxic if you work with PLA)

What would you go with, the Ender 3 or the A8 Plus? Both are similar in price.

personal I would go for the ender 3. a lot more popular, more mods, more support. also parts are easily sourced from amazon or ali express or a multitude of other sites.
if you're brave enough, you can even upgrade your ender 3 to print longer stuff by upgrading your rails and belt and modifying your slicer to accommodate the new length.

Wow, just got a wash and cure 2.0 from them on eBay for 129 and about 3 day shipping. Heard about those delays, it took 3 days to get the mono about a week ago from anycubic.com also (got the 229 also) so hopefully they are getting better.

I started basically from scratch with zero knowledge but decided to go resin for the quality. Getting all the safety precautions in place now. Stay safe!
