No coupon for me (and I've never bought any batteries on Amazon).

800 mAh for AAA is typical. Normal Eneloop AAA batteries are also 800 mAh. While you can get 900 and 1000 mAh batteries, usually the trade-off for increasing capacity is a higher self-discharge rate or a reduced number of charge cycles.

Decent enough, wish they were AA though.

and yes 800mah is typical, super high capacity squeezes maybe a few % more at the cost of higher self discharge when they exist.

The old gray ones used to be essentially re-branded Eneloops. These new green and black ones are just cheap rechargables from some factory (not made in Japan). They're also rated for fewer than half the recharge cycles as Eneloops (1000x vs. 2100x).

Or just false advertising, which occurs 90% of the time...it's very rare to test a battery that has it's rated capacity or more.

They should work fine for a cordless phone. I bought my 12-pack for just that reason...

That said, I got these about a month ago, and ran them through a La Crosse charger (one that charges/discharges/refreshes and has an LCD display). 8 or 9 of the 12 batteries indicated fine (showed close to rated capacity), using the discharge/recharge cycle. That cycle does a deep discharge, then a full charge and estimates the capacity. I put 2 of these in each of my 2 cordless handsets that needed new batteries, and they're holding a charge just fine. So for these 2 handsets, I am a happy camper...

I have 3 more handsets, but those are used infrequently, so I didn't need all 12 batteries. But since the cost difference was minimal, I just bought the 12 pack thinking I'd have some spares / use them for some remote controls. While I might have considered returning these, it's not worth my trip back to UPS do sent them back.

AS A DISCLAIMER -- The La Crosse charger is AAA compatible, BUT I know that AAA are VERY hard to truly detect the full charge state (unlike AA). So it's entirely possible that the trickle charge state tops these off to near their full capacity, and the batteries that seem to be poor capacity are just indicating a false positive charge. I haven't tested them in a real device yet, but I can tell you my two 4+ year old AAA Eneloops test at 80% of rated capacity in the charger (and power my FireTV remote).
