YMMV: Apple iPhone XS and XS Max Clearance in-store (all capacities/models) for $199

Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

These are not in inventory due to they are subsidized models only to be sold with activation or contract for new and existing customers.

The wireless rep will not allow these to be sold at full price.

Ok so I just got three of the XS Max. So first thing is not all employees will just outright sell for the 199. Some will expect you to add a line, upgrade, or new line activate. Those who don't request that did not follow procedure. Second, I paid 149.99x 3 for the devices and added them as upgrades. So, YMMV on the price. Lastly, Samsung Galaxy phones are on sale as well. To do the reserve go to walmart.com>menu>electronics>cellular>post paid> then when you get to this screen about half way down the page you will see a reserve in store banner in blue. Click that enter the zip and service type and phone type. It will search for your query. If you change device after a query it will show you all devices being sold..not necessarily in stock but offered. Click through that to find your gold.

Just ordered two 256gb XS Maxes for Verizon. Gonna keep one and flip the other. I could have ordered more, but I thought that would make it more likely that I'd run into trouble. If all goes well, I might try and place another order tomorrow after pickup. Thanks OP!

Did you have to provide any ATT account info? It says full price, so there should be no requirement.
You should not have to provide account info or open an account for full price purchase at the store. The problem is with most cell phone employees, either T-ROC or OSL, will falsely claim that they can't sell it to you without activation at the store so that they can earn commissions and bonuses. By policy, activation is not required when you pay full price, whether discounted or on clearance. All they have to do is to just choose device only on the WARP terminal to print out the WARP order with a barcode to scan on the cash register to sell it to you.

I can't remember the exact wording, but some stores even have a sign posted at the wireless department that states something like we have to power on and activate any postpaid smartphone purchased with contract only, full price postpaid smartphones do not require contract or activation. If anyone see that sign, please take a picture and post it here so we all can share and know the exact wording. Good luck hug

You DO NOT have to sign up for a service plan or installment payment plan to buy any postpaid smartphone from Walmart. The key to successfully buy any postpaid smartphone outright from Walmart is WARP WARP WARP.
