Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

If they are insisting on the activation, can i just activate the phone, and then just cancel it just after. Can't that work and get the phone for 200

No stores have it in stock around me in Washington. Someone ship it to me if they have an extra.

Well I put a regular XS on hold, they ended up having an XS Max which was fine enough (it's for my pre-teen so smaller was preferable but she can just put it in her bag at least). There was no employee in electronics but fortunately the photo lady who was half covering was super nice and willing to find a manager (who also didn't know what to do) and try for me (being polite often helps). Took at least an hour, spoiling one phone's IMEI doing it wrong, then subtly suggesting I had "found" some step by step directions for processing it and they were able to work through it. She was a champ and it was a roller coaster ride, kid was super polite and patient which helped too so she earned it. Thanks to everyone that posted step by steps and advice, wouldn't have been possible without you.

Anyone??
Did they let you get the phone for $99 / $199 by signing up for ATT, but you somehow 'signed up' without a contract? Does that mean you had no credit check either? I wouldn't be opposed to getting service for a month, but I"m not going to take a hard inquiry to get a discounted 3-year-old-phone. THanks!

Question: if you purchase the phone but don't activate it. It is unlocked and can you activate it with any other carrier??

why would there be a credit check? The deal in this thread is to buy a phone (heavily discounted clearance price) with the cheap price being the full price.

No idea, but apparently it's a third party service used to sell contract phones. Made it seem Walmart employees can't sell the phone outright. Sounds like bs to me.

read through the thread - you question has been answered.

Advice: Buy ASAP before it sells out. Dealers and resellers are all over this deal because it guarantees a minimum 100% profit over very phone. Someone said they bought 8 pieces and he wasn't even a dealer.

because you are adding an additional line and/or new service -- and it isn't prepaid...and that means (on most carriers) a credit check [edited to add: this is a question for walmart locations where they wouldn't sell to someone unless they were adding a line/new service, which is 3/4 the people on this thread]

Checked all stores around me, none will sell me without activation- two stores around me had in stock if I want to buy and activate new line (even if their website shows no stock). They said they received instructions yesterday that there is a possible fraud going on so no device only sell :-) ... I have no idea why would they have issues if you are ready to pay-in the full asking price of the device- Redicuousl
No wonder why no one wants to buy expensive phones at WM except may be for deals like this!

give the dude a thumbs up for this thread. It should be frontpage but dealers gave him 177 downvotes so they can corner supply.

Also, there are 45 pages in this thread and slickdeals hasn't made it frontpage. Go figure!
