Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

This is such BS, 5 stores wouldn't sell outright. Probably not worth a drive sounds like only that OSL or whatever company is the only one that can sell these. Not sure how anyone is getting these, what do you tell them?

Really hit and miss. I got two Monday without issue, but was hesitant to try the next day at two other stores because of stories like yours. Got both phones at those two locations without issue as well. Told them to use the WARP system at one location (other locations knew what do do). Of the three locations I went to, none insisted I get any kind of plan.

Also reserved one for a buddy in Hawaii. He was in and out of there in five minutes with no problem.

Lol they aren't gonna hold til Friday. If you can't go today it's not worth that long of a drive. Even if you can go it's more likely you won't get it.

Called the 2nd closest store to me to not possibly burn the deal at the closest store and they said they have 9 of them. 3 of the 256GB and 6 of the 64GB. I said OK thanks and didn't ask how much they are or anything and I went to the store. When I got there the guy didn't know how much they were until he scanned them, the whole time the manager was eyeing us, I got a 256GB Space Gray and a 256GB Silver, they said they're unlocked, both are in the sealed with plastic box. They would only sell me two, the manager came over and insisted only two which is a bummer because my wife, daughter and mother in law are all needing new phones, oh well. I can't believe I got this deal, it seemed like such a long shot, thanks so much OP! Came to $426.xx for both out the door.

I reserved several and got email confirmation with a confirmation number. Says that I have 48 hours to pick them up.

In my locsl WM right now. Just purchased one outright (no Acct info or activation, just pay and go). But they also have three others I want (literally sitting in front of me) and they say the system won't let it sell them to me because they are "reserved". They aren't even online purchases, just online reservations. Guy is on the phone w/ a manager right now.

This seems like total chaos and nonsense.
