Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

Seems like you are not driving a Porsche, otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question. Applause

Great deal if you're going to Walmart for something else already and luck into it, but as an end unto itself...I see this turning into a long, frustrating wild goose chase.

The phones didn't ring up without manager access and they were $500 everywhere in Phoenix. The manager said to try reserving online but it showed not available in every Phoenix area zip code for me. He said he sold several today though. I guess I'm just too late Frown

Here's my story. Saw this post early in the morning. Went to WM website and reserved two XS Max 64 GB. Received email and I arrived WM at 9:30 AM. Electronics people really nice, but told me they had never heard of reserving a phone, plus they could not do anything without 3rd party wireless person present and he was not scheduled in until 1:00 PM. I gave them my number and asked him to call me when he arrives. 3:00 PM rolls around and no call, so I call the WM and get wireless guy. He said he has been trying to figure out how to do the transaction for device only, but is stumped. Said he would try a manager two levels up and see what he can do to help. Fifteen minutes later he calls me back and tells me my phones are ready to be purchased. I hurry down and the wireless guy looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, plus has the same laid back personality. He said "man this is a good deal" and I told him I agreed. I mentioned I should have purchased more for family members. He said He had five of the XS Max and six of the XS if I wanted more. I told him to give me all of the XS Max models.

Now this is where things got weird. In order for him to key the phones up in the register, a store manager had to do some sort of override. The first manager did not have the turn key and then two more managers showed up at the same time. Each phone had to have the price override, one at a time. When the first phone rang up $199.99 the manager said that can't be correct. The wireless guy said something about it is correct and started to do a second phone. Now the electronics crew (4 of them) took and interest in the transaction. Everyone was saying they had never seen phones purchased without a new contract. They were looking at me while wireless dude just kept ringing up my purchase. Another manager said this is just not correct, and wireless buddy shook his head and continued on. One of the electronics folks said they wanted one at that price. Mr. Wireless told her I had purchased all of the Max version, but he could sell her a regular version. She looked at me like I told her to drop dead.

I really thought this deal would fall through before t finally purchased the phones. I have 5 new iPhone XS MAX setting on my table. I am going to share them with my family and a couple friends. TY OP for posting the deal.
OK so you're for sure going to sell them on OfferUp or Craigslist, but I'm not judging you for it.

Any thoughts on going later in the day to the store versus mid day?

So, we need to go check brick and mortar even though it shows outofstock for all major carriers? reservation page shows oos for many stores around me.
There is no point in going now. Most of the stores have been cleaned out by now. I got this deal when this thread had 20K views. Even then I had to drive an hour to get two.

If you're in the Walmart then go ask for it but going Walmart to Walmart looking for the phones now is not the right way of Walmarting tbh.

I reserved online, came to store, but no one has any idea of what I'm talking about. The electronics people told me it has to be through the mobile people, and they are only here 8am to 4pm (my work hours). I asked about warp and they had no idea, I asked if they sell phones without contract and was told no. I asked to speak to a manager (asst.) And she said the same. I'm not sure how people are getting this deal. Tried 2 stores so far, same result. Neither one will even touch the phones .. showed them the reservation as well, and they said they dont know how to do that.

For anyone looking to reserve a phone online, go to the Walmart online store and type in iPhone XS. It will be out of stock. Click on find in store and select your ZIP code. This will show you what is available. If anyone finds an extra one in their area, I'll buy it off you :-)

Sounds like a case of the Walmart employees stockpiling for themselves!

I went to my local Walmart to see if they had any in stock. The phone rep was very nice about it but he said they had several but he couldn't sell any phones without a contract. I was just about to leave and he said if you go to this store 15 minutes away they have a different system and they can sell outright. I wasn't sure about going but thought why not. I got there and a young guy who just started was working the desk. He found a XS 64GB Space Grey. He wasn't completely sure how to work the WARP system but he pressed some buttons and then took it over to the register. It rang up at $99 + tax. Was definitely worth the trip.
