Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

My store said no reservations available for certain iphone models but it was literally available right in front of me, so don't completely trust the reservation system about quantity. Have them check the cage for the phones.

The same store I got 2-256GB Xs Max still had some but they would only sell me 2 and I needed 3. My sister-in-law went and picked up 2-64GB at the same store so now everyone that wanted one in the family will get one and she has an extra so I'm sure somebody else in the family will want it. The same lady that sold them to me couldn't figure out how to do it for my sister-in-law, makes no sense but she called a manager over and they fixed it.

They're unlocked, at least the ones we got are. We have T-Mobile, my wife put her TMo SIM in and it was good to go, just to try it out my daughter has a TracFone SIM from the Moto G Stylus deal with a few weeks of service left on it and we put that in and it worked as well.

Yes it appears the max are unlocked but the regular will be locked with whatever first sim you put in.

Some Max are flex policy. I have one Max unlocked and the other flex policy.

I had the worker ring up the samsung S9 and S9+ but it was showing regular price at my store eventhough online it showed $24.

It doesn't really matter as the devices are paid off so the carrier will unlock them. Verizon users may have to wait the 60 days, however, if they don't want to try the ebay route. It does seem like the majority of Maxes are unlocked though.
