Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

$150 profit for resellers doesn't seem worth it to me to drive, park, and enter a Walmart nowadays. Thanks anyway OP.
I mean hey, at the end of the day its your call. I'm not one for straight ripping off people when I know I got it at a much lower price and am able to still make a decent profit. But you do you.

Anyone insert first with a Post paid service like RedPocket? Does it lock it to RedPocket?

I just got 2 XS max, but only after have to add two new lines but paying the phone at full price. I plan to call AT&T abs cancel the new lines since I'm under 14days cancellation time, which will get me back activation fees as well.

Also, the XS max I got were pretty beaten up. And I figured it's not worth the effort. If there any reps that would straight up let you purchase "Device Only" then this is worth. If not, I don't think it's worth your time.

As a win win, you can add a new line and pay off the phone right when you are adding the line, this way you get the phone and the OSL folks will get their commission. No sulking abs it's a win win..

It should based on all the feedback. Theoretically they could unlock it but while I'm fine with the service dealing with getting technical issues like that resolved with them can be difficult. That and the unlocking terms are much less friendly than AT&T or Verizon. Plus there's always the thing about getting something locked to Boost is permanent and I don't recall that being the case with anyone else but I don't want to take the chance with it. I can wait a few days for an AT&T sim to ship as opposed to waiting a year for RedPocket and finding out it's FUBAR.

I had made a reservation in store using the link from the beginning of the feed and when I went to pick it up they had a bunch in the draw. Anyone near 22968 when I left they still had a space gray and a silver XS Max. They also had several XS - space gray and gold size 64gb and 1 space gray 256gb. Very smooth process at that particular store.

Edit: a couple didn't have the plastic wrap on but the phone itself still had the plastic screen on it. The couple I got had the plastic wrap but a little rough.

Anyone else have severe ghosting on the screen on the XS Max? Whenever I scroll on anything the text blurs extremely bad making it almost unusable. I just switched from my iPhone 7 and didn't have this issue at all. I searched online and many other people reported the same issue. Seems to be a hardware issue and can't be fixed.

I will leave it to your imagination. But they looked like a used phones (probably returns) although they are "brand new"

Well you've got full warranty and if it's a known issue like that it's fixable. Apple or an AASP would likely just end up putting a new screen on it and be done in an hour or so too, no cost out of pocket. I don't recall that as one of the "known issues" where it gets extended coverage from my time doing AASP repairs but if it's not right the warranty will cover it. Which If it's up and running the warranty should be updated in Apple's system based on purchase from when the phone activates at setup, but check it before you go for an appointment just to make sure: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ If it's not right go to Apple over AASP if possible and bring the Walmart receipt/paper work with you.
