Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

So I found an XS Max Silver 64gb late last night at Murrieta, CA 92562 Walmart. Made a reservation. Showed up here at 10AM to find the wireless guy had an emergency so he didn't show up but thank God the very helpful electronic guy made multiple phone calls to the wireless manager and he was able to have someone at a nearby Walmart drive over to help me. Got it for $150 via upgrade. I paid in full to have it unlocked. They still have a few XS Max in black and gold if anyone wanna drive over. Only 64gb. They also have lots of Samsung like s10e for $50 in stock here.

I went to my local walmart and they forced me to buy a plan and refused to sell me without plan. I asked manager and he said that's OSL policy. Walmart manager is dumb and kept saying they are contractors and we don't control them. What a bullshit story when a company who hires the contractors can't control them. I even asked for policy documents and they kept saying they have it but don't know where. Finally didn't want to lose the phones so I took att plan and then she wants to open the phones to make a test call. There is even a notice on the desk showing that phones paid for full price don't need a test call. I showed that she again kept saying BS stories. Worst walmart experience. Now I know why walmart is struggling to survive.

You should tell corporate about your experience if it was that bad

I just summarized, it was way worse. I filed a feedback already. I went there yesterday at 10 AM after getting a reservation confirmation. she wasn't there. i was asked to come back today at 10 AM. I went there and she wasn't there and no one knows when she gets there. I again went at 11:30 and she took 2 hours to process the order. I am frustrated enough that I want to file a complaint Smilie

Spoke too soon, turned out that one of them is unlocked and the other one is on US reseller flex policy, dang.

I'm using Mint myself, should I put my mint sim there and then asked mint to unlock it? The other sim I have is tracfone.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. New to this unlock business

Got XS 64GB and upgraded my sprint number with no upgrade fee and requested for unlock. Now phone is unlocked

Interesting data point. Day before yesterday, I got the XS MAX for $199+ tax. I was in a hurry, did not pay attention, took the box and the receipt and came home. Today, when I opened the box, it has an iPhone 8 plus. The plastic wrapped on the phone is of a XS MAX. What options do I have? Any inputs are appreciated. Thanks

Corporate doesn't care. Went through that already. They don't override manager decisions and they are allowed to set their own policies for their own stores.
