people have old GPUs with new monitors!?!?!
HOW DARE THEY!!!

personally, i was annoyed when i picked up a Zotac RTX2080 AMP Extreme on SD and needed another GPU to run my old QNIX, since it was only DVI-D and the active adapters don't work. but oh well, picked up a B-Stock EVGA on SD for ~20$ and she's back up and running next to my OMEN27.
Does it matter which side goes into the monitor for these? I remember reading something about active/passive cables, but could've been for different connector types
Okay, I'm saying I just bought this to use from hdmi out from a laptop to dvi into a monitor. This cable works both ways.

I am using a rosewilll DVI to HDMI cable on an old Dell monitor with DVI. Video card out is HDMI. I haven't tried it the other way around though.

I looked into these to connect my laptop (only has HDMI) to an old Dell u2713hm monitor; however, the cable only supports up to 1080p. If you need 1440p, as I do, you should look into other options such as hdmi-to-displayport adapters. First adapter I tried (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G796JF8) kept causing screen flicker, so now I am waiting for a second version to try. I wish these hdmi-to-dvi cables supported higher resolution.

people still use DVI? all new GPUs removed DVI.

From a Chinese seller (they use fake U.S. locations)

Many state that it took 3 plus weeks to arrive, if at all

Add a gender bender on the dvi end to use on a dvi monitor from a hdmi video card.
