I was checking out the Galaxy S21 Ultra offers here [verizon.com] and noticed an "Upgrade and get $600 off w/trade" button, which was valid on my Galaxy Note 8. A friend of mine also did the same with his Galaxy S8+. The most I was seeing anywhere else for my Note 8 was $250.
Yes, these are monthly bill credits, but I plan on staying with Verizon anyway so not a problem for me. You will also need to be on a select Unlimited 5G plan.
On top of the $600, all preorders are eligible for the Samsung credit as well. For the S21 Ultra preorder, this means I'll be getting an additional $200 in Samsung credit and Samsung SmartTag.
$800 total for my Note 8 to upgrade to the S21 Ultra was a no-brainer for me.

UPDATE:
Turns out the $600 credit is valid on even older models. I canceled my order with the Note 8 trade-in and created a new order where I am trading in an inactive Google Pixel 2 64GB that I had. If you click on the promotion and then "See all details and additional offers" there is a dropdown with all phones eligible for the $600 credit. It includes iPhone6 and newer, Galaxy Note5 and newer, Galaxy S7 and newer and a bunch of other Motorola, LG, and OnePlus phones.

UPDATE 2:
Check under "Account" and then "My offers" and there could be one that says "Galaxy S21. Get $300 off. Save on the latest from Samsung when you upgrade your phone. Online only. Discount applied in cart."
This brought my total discount to $900 off of the S21 Ultra, plus the $200 Samsung credit.

I start the process and once I choose a phone and hit preorder to go to next screen, choose plan that everyone here seems to be indicating my account says "you already have a pending order on my account"?

WTH that's a bit odd. No chat tonight so will have to try tomorrow and see if it still says that and then chat if it does. I did recently get an A71 5G from Samsung on that line but that was ~2 months ago now or so.. I paid for that one (no bill credits) direct from Samsung. I wonder if that is messing this process up?


Can anyone confirm you hit my offers select the $300 and then pick a line to upgrade and choose the phone and hit preorder now to proceed to the next step? That was the process I took and it claims I have a pending order..

So is the trick to fist upgrade your unlimited plan before trying this deal? I'm currently on the unlimited plan that apparently doesn't work with this deal.

Five lines on my account with the only line not getting the $300 promo being an S10+ purchased last year, recently paid in full. Spoke with Verizon via chat and was told the S10 was too new to have $300 offer and they would not apply it to account. Apparently the $300 upgrade offer is meant for lines with older phones. I did get the offer on lines with Note 8, S9+, and Moto Z4, so anything more than round 2 years old seems to be the limit, but hard to say for sure. I don't have a lot of confidence in Level 1 Verizon customer support.

I still can't get any reps to apply the $300 with the $799 trade in for my Note 8. They keep saying I'm double dipping. I don't see how that is the case. One promo is for upgrading the phone. The other is just a credit for trading in the device.

It shows as available on both my lines pixel 4a and sammy a71. I have other issues with the process but the age doesn't seem right. You've tried looking for offers on pc vs mobile correct?

It's for new lines only, so it won't auto apply and it is random if you can get a rep to apply it.

My offers give me $300 and the$800 trade in for my S7.
Now, if I get the vanilla S21 256 GB the credit is more than the phone, almost $11 more a month.
Will Verizon honor the additional credits? Anyone know? Will they honor the $800 trade if for my perfectly working S7?

Ordered two phones last night (upgrades). Was able to get the $300 off Samsung promo, plus the $600 trade-in on an S 8 and S 9+. After stacking both promo line credits the phones are free. This is a crazy good deal so very nervous to see what happens with the $600 trade in.

Edit: I went through to add a third phone and now that third phone is showing $799 trade-in-credit instead of $600 like the previous two phones. Did they add a new promo for $799 today? It looks like it, I see it on the VW front page now. Anyone have any luck with canceling an order and re-ordering? I'm thinking of cancelling my original 2 and ordering all 3 with the $300 + $799 but want to also make sure I'll be able to immediately do that and also not lose the $300 discount.

I have tried multiple times for the $799 trade in credit to stack with the $300 and no rep has been willing to help. They think I'm an idiot and am just making it up or that I am trying to add a line.

Has anyone figured out which is the 'cheapest' phone that can qualify? I have a moto e but I can't get that to work. Thinking I could by a cheap phone (maybe for VZW or BB) and do this deal.

I tried Note 5 VZW an it didn't work. S7 showed a regular trade in value of $26.

something to take in account: you're required to enter in the IMEI to get the trade approved. by the time you buy a used phone and get the IMEI the promo might be over.

I can confirm S7 works, it shows $25 but when you checkout it then shows $600.

Yes, I never even mess with mobile, although since you mentioned it, I went through the process there just now with same results. I was only guessing that age of phone was a qualifying factor, based on my own results and basic info from the Verizon chat rep. Most people getting the better offers seem to have older phones like S7. Who knows, may be targeted to specific accounts. I pulled the trigger on my Note 8 line and got the $300 + $600 so happy with that. Wanted to do the S10 line as well, but w/o the extra $300 not worth it. I'm sure there will be more good promos on S21 over next few months.

So I was able to get the 21ultra 512 w/ $ 600 in trade for my VZW note 5 (in use currently) +$300 bonus because we are long time customers (9+ years). Got this for me and 1 for my wife. Brought the cost o the phone down to roughly 479+tax -- not too bad. Just hope VZW does not reneg on the 600 trade after they get our phones.
