I was checking out the Galaxy S21 Ultra offers here [verizon.com] and noticed an "Upgrade and get $600 off w/trade" button, which was valid on my Galaxy Note 8. A friend of mine also did the same with his Galaxy S8+. The most I was seeing anywhere else for my Note 8 was $250.
Yes, these are monthly bill credits, but I plan on staying with Verizon anyway so not a problem for me. You will also need to be on a select Unlimited 5G plan.
On top of the $600, all preorders are eligible for the Samsung credit as well. For the S21 Ultra preorder, this means I'll be getting an additional $200 in Samsung credit and Samsung SmartTag.
$800 total for my Note 8 to upgrade to the S21 Ultra was a no-brainer for me.

UPDATE:
Turns out the $600 credit is valid on even older models. I canceled my order with the Note 8 trade-in and created a new order where I am trading in an inactive Google Pixel 2 64GB that I had. If you click on the promotion and then "See all details and additional offers" there is a dropdown with all phones eligible for the $600 credit. It includes iPhone6 and newer, Galaxy Note5 and newer, Galaxy S7 and newer and a bunch of other Motorola, LG, and OnePlus phones.

UPDATE 2:
Check under "Account" and then "My offers" and there could be one that says "Galaxy S21. Get $300 off. Save on the latest from Samsung when you upgrade your phone. Online only. Discount applied in cart."
This brought my total discount to $900 off of the S21 Ultra, plus the $200 Samsung credit.

Yes, but it was a hassle. Cancelling two orders and then placing new ones caused a hold on my verizon account and I had to call and talk to their fraud department to get the holds removed. It was a couple hours of being on the phone. It might be the reason why I was only able to get 300+799 off two of the phones, and the third one was 300+600....because the whole system became a mess because of the hold. It was not fun to get through so I just stuck with the 600 on the third phone.

While I didn't order thru Verizon, I received my order 2 days early from Samsung! Maybe those of you who ordered thru Verizon will get a surprise delivery today Smilie

I'm having an issue with the $300 promo where yesterday the details on My Offers stated it was for an upgrade whereas now it's when adding a new line. One rep yesterday told me plainly that the deal stacks with the $600 trade in but a different one today told me the opposite. What is going on over there?

I got the $799 for 2 existing lines. But it didn't show up until the end of the process. When I was going through the pre-order screen I selected the "$600" promo, but after selecting existing line and then picking my existing phone (S 8) it actually showed up as $799 and then -$33.33 per month credit at the end.

I didn't get the offer, either. I called and told them I've been with Verizon for 20 years and (in a VERY nice manner) explained that I expected to get this loyalty discount that others with 5+ years have gotten and they gave it to me. If you push enough, you can get it.

I see the $300 in my offers. I see when I hit details of the $600 credit the Pixel XL 2 is there.
When I go to do this it reduces the pixel 2 Xl 64GB white/Black Verizon phone to a 41 Trade in (good condition not any damage indicated in trade in process). I follow that to the end and still only get $41.

I have tried across multiple browsers, multiple PC's Chromebook, mobile. I have moved from the Ultra in black at 256Gb to the silver at 128GB. I have skipped the $300 offer and went only for the $600. I have moved from 30 months to 24 and made sure the $600 offer was selected every time before I proceeded, I have chosen device protection in the process and not chosen it. I have selected the biggest plan they offer ($90 on two lines). the do more, and the play more all on different attempts. At the final page where it asks for my credit card 3 digit code and complete order button I get $41 for the pixel 2.

No idea why I cant get it to give me more but it wont. This pixel 2 was on their service under my contract since 2017 so maybe that changes it but I am not able to get more value for the phone. I appreciate your post but will likely bow out at this point as I was hoping to get the $600 off on my older phone like some have but will likely stick with what I have for now.

If you have another idea I am all ears but really not getting the same outcome unfortunately. I am on the old XXL 18GB Shared plan now so maybe thats the issue I have no idea.

You have to switch to one of the newer unlimited plans to receive the promo.

I think I've figured something else out. Verizon has an "Express Cart" checkout process that skips some of the device protection, plan changes, and accessories screens. Once in your cart you can add the following parameter to the URL and reload the page "&expresscheckout=false". Clear your cart and then start over and this should now walk you through regular checkout process which includes the option to change your plan to an eligible plan. On the product page you don't even have to select the trade-in promo. At the very end in the cart page there's a link to add a trade in after you've made your selection - be sure to change your plan to trigger the promotion. See if that works.

Thank you for posting this. I got $799.99 trade in offer for my note 8 and an offer for $300 for upgrading. This is an insanely good deal for the s21 ultra and the best I've ever seen for a new phone.

I first went to my offers and clicked on the $300 off upgrade offer and then I selected the s21 ultra, then I did the trade in offer on the cart page and it initially said $65 trade in offer for the note 8. Then i changed my plan to unlimited 5g uw and it changed the trade in offer to $799.99. So now I'll be paying $2-3 per month for 30 months for this s21 ultra.

Has anyone had any issues in the past with getting the full estimated trade in offer? My note 8 is in good condition and meets the requirements they mentioned. I want to get the full $799.99 trade in offer.

In the past. I thought I saw some tiny hairline scratches on the phone, but I haven't seen them lately and maybe they weren't scratches or I'm just not looking hard enough. I hope there aren't any scratches.

Don't think they will bother with minor scratches. Cracked screen allows them to offer less. Don't know what they will do with these old phones anyway. Don't think their point is to collect old phones but to try and lock in subscribers for 2 years to make their numbers look better, and keep the stock price up. Believe me, they are not trying to do us favors 🙂

Yes, call the customer service line tomorrow. In the morning. I've used the chat and its hit or miss. Stuff they have said they were "noting on my account" were never found by the reps on the phone.
