Man! That's expensive.. I know it's good quality but I just can't justify spending that much on a thermometer. Im still waiting for it to drop to 70 with free shipping

I used the thermapen MK4 at a friend's house, the 2-3 sec read makes a difference when your trying to temp meats on a hot grill before singeing your fingers.
Price is bit North of what I'd like to pay, but you gotta feed all these ppl

Rafoyon, sign up for Thermoworks email list, they seemingly email me daily (maybe not true..) but they will email you on specials they have. Every once in a blue moon they will have open box sales of mk4 for 30% off which will get you close to your price target.

Been happy with my open box thermapop that I got for $24 after tax/shipping. Reads in 3-4 secs!
I'm really debating mk4 or the thermapop. Price difference is more than half the price
I have a Thermapen Mk4 myself and have given Thermapops to both my parents and my in-laws (primarily for when I cook over there). If you cook regularly, and particularly if you do a lot of roasting or grilling, the Mk4 is worth the premium for the convenience in my opinion. It becomes something you use very regularly and quite frankly that price premium doesn't feel that bad if you consider it as amortized over time. The differences (i.e. no set up time twice as fast reads) are definitely noticable if you use both although if you've never used a Mk4, you might not feel it as much. I based this on the fact that both my parents and in-laws, whom have never really used my Thermapen, love the Thermapop (or put another way, ignorance is bliss).
