My family of 4 shares one switch, however we each have our own accounts to play with others. Nintendo is not generous enough to let each of our accounts have online access so we buy the family plan to save money.

Surely you jest. One of the reasons that the Switch is doing so well is that Nintendo is able to sell multiple unites per home. Especially with the introduction of the Switch Lite. I have 5 Switches: one for me and each of my kids. The family plan is a steal of a deal for us.
